Title: Can you fly on an airplane after Gamma Knife
Post by: gary.s on June 10, 2017, 12:02:16 pm
I am looking at gamma knife radiation during this summer for my right sided AN which is 2.2 cm x 2.1 cm. Just wondering if it is okay to take a 5 hour airplane trip a few weeks after gamma knife. It seems like most folks go back to normal activity, but is an airplane trip okay?

That was a big concern for me too.  My tumor was 2.9 cm and I had postradiation swelling about 3 months after GK. My neurosurgeon still said flying was fine just that I shouldn't be going up mountains, so not to worry.
If you feel well, seems safe to enjoy your travels.

Thanks for the responses. I thought the pressure changes from the plane going up and down might impact the newly fried tumor, or the nerve. Glad you folks did not have any problems when flying.
