A friend on FB posted a video today. It spawned a bad thought cycle in my mind. I probably should apologize in advance for this, but it would probably be missing the point.
If I had a tumor
I'd blame in the morning
I'd blame it in evening
All over this land
I'd blame it for my humor
I'd blame it for my behavior
I'd blame for all the things I do and say
All over this land.

Thanks for the touch of whimsey....with apologies to Pete Seeger and Lee Hayes who wrote the original words and music for the folk song "If I Had a Hammer" back in 1949. It was recorded and released that year by the folk group The Weavers but went nowhere because the lyrics were considered to be an anthem to Communism and radio stations wouldn't touch it. Times changed and the pop-folk group Peter, Paul & Mary popularized the song back in 1962 (it went to #10 on the "Hot 100' chart). Chicano singer Trini Lopez's version of the song went to #3 on the pop charts, in 1963. Dozens of versions by other singers abound. However, I like your lyrics.
Sorry if I offered too much information. I had a long career as a radio D.J. and retain a lot of useless trivia about songs and recording artists. I've always been like this.

Jim, Thanks for the response- no need to apologize for its length. I've often wondered what all may lie in your personal history. I was once DJ for a stardust/big band station many years ago for a brief time. However, country/folk/Americana is where my musical interests stay - which is why I occasionally mistreat a longneck banjo a la Pete Seeger.

Jim - enjoyed that bit of history!
I have a banjo too, one of these days I'll learn how to play it!

Comin from that era, I love the trivia. Thanks for keeping the memories lost, alive again.

Jim, where were you a radio dj?

Jim, where were you a radio dj?
Thanks for asking. I spent most of my broadcasting career in Connecticut (e.g. WDRC, Hartford). I'm retired now but still reside in the 'Constitution State'.

Thanks for the history and the lyrics, Tod and Jim. I loved that song. The Seegers live in this neighborhood and own a children's camp in Vermont. I'm still looking for a Tom Glazer record that I misplaced. I keep hunting on eBay.
Am missing Mary very much these days. Sorry we lost her.

Funny song, my family has tried to humor me with my AN by naming it "BillyJean" after the Micheal Jackson Song.

I thought I was going to get my tumor back in a bottle with a black lid like all my friends in elementary school who got their tonsils out. I wonder what they did with it. They never wrote about it in the op report. :o I don't miss it, but it sure was a lot of trouble!

Mei Mei,
I did not get my tumor, but I did ask for my gold eye weight. I got it. Haven't sold it yet. Susan
