Title: Gold weight over tarsoraphy eyes
Post by: prabakaran on September 19, 2007, 01:30:04 am
Hi,

I had my surgery 8 months back and my eye doctor did a lateral tarsoraphy on my eye. stitched my eyelids on the left. My lowerlids are ok and I suppose I could have done a gold weight procedure. Is it possible that the tarsoraphy is removed and a gold weight fitted now. Is it advisable to go for that procedure now?

How much is the cost for gold weight procedure.

Cheers,
Praba

Hi Praba:  You can have both the gold weight & the tarsorrhaphy (?sp) done.  The gold weight will help the upper lid to close more when you try to blink.  If your docs feel you need it, definitely do it - do whatever you have to to protect your cornea.    Always good thoughts,  Nancy

hi Praba, does your eye have blink reflex ?
my doc told me that if your eye does'nt have the blink
reflex ,the gold weight will not help
my eye will only blink when i concentrate on making it blink.
when my other eye blinks with normal function ,my other one does not.
i never realized that until he told me that my did not have this reflex, even though it seemed like ie did to me , I thought
my problem was that it didnt close all the way when i blinked.
