Title: Eye gel to eye drops
Post by: Joe B on July 07, 2009, 02:15:41 pm
Hey all

I was cleared today by the opthamologist to start using the Refresh Tears during the day. I had been using the Refresh Lacri-lube 24 hours a day (so I haven't seen clearly in over a month). I am also going to start using gauze and tape at night to keep the eye all the way shut(with the ointment in it). My question is this: What is the best way to get the lacrilube out of the eye safely in the morning before adding the eye drops?

I can see !!!!! :o

Thanks in advance

Joe

Wow, I'm really happy for you that you don't have to use the ointment 24/7 any more. A good rinse out using a vial of regular eye drops always worked to rinse out the ointment for me.

Best,
Sara

JOE,
Yea, you can see!
As Sara suggested, those single use vials work. I rinse out my eye every morning, and then just try to get by with a tiny bit of eye gel during the day. I don't flush the eye, I just gently squeeze the content of the vial, and tilt my head back and forth, and then squeeeze out the gunk!

OR you can squeeze hard to flush it out. Your call.

I've had blurry vision on the left for 3 years. I seem to do fine driving, got my licensed renewed with no prob., etc.

Good luck!
Maureen

Hi Joe-

I bought an eye wash (Bausch and Lomb, I think) that comes with a little cup that you fill and put over your eye.  It cleans the goo out of my eye really well.  I'm still using a combo of drops and gel during the day, but I still like to start the day out with a fresh eyeball!
