Hello,
I checked my morning news and I found this article about BAHA in a fellow ANer. I wonder how TransEar compares.

Eve,
Thanks for the article.
I will most likely get the BAHA myself after I heal from my translab surgery, later in the summer. This helps me understand it's effectiveness.

thanks for the article. Even though I've already had the BAHA surgery (I'm anxiously awaiting my processor) I've never seen the statistics that are mentioned in the article. It was very interesting and I can't wait to see if my experience is similar :)

Well I have my processor and I can tell a huge difference in my daily life now, I do not have to ask for things to be repeated or sit in areas to hear better. Case in point I've been in class all week and I have not had to cock my head to hear the speaker etc.
And yes Jan I am wearing it....lol

Good for you, David. It sounds like it's doing for you what I hope it does for me.
Every day that goes by I realize what a wise man my neurotologist is. I have the utmost respect for him and his medical degree, but if I had my processor in my grubby little hands right now, I'd definitely be wearing it against his wishes :o
Guess he knows me pretty well ;)

Well like my doctor told my g/f "he's the toughest bird I have ever seen" but I have always pushed myself to the max so guess that is why I have recovered so well.
I put my little leash on my BAHA during this trip.
I have noticed that if I turn my head just right at times I get some feed back even at 0.
Noticed if a big truck passes me I get a strange feeling on the side of the BAHA.
Other than that I love it!!!

U know how to tell if it's working , plug your good ear and see if u can hear, freaky....that is how I adjust the volume...

Thanks for the tip; I'll try to remember that.
I found that "plugging the good ear" thing freaky when I did the BAHA demo.
Freaky, but incredible - and also VERY cool 8)

I had my 3, almost 4, weeks follow-up today. The doctor says my implant site is healing nicely. He wants me to keep using the Neosporin "once in a while" until I go back July 3rd. He's planning on giving me the processor at that appointment. Talk about Independence Day. What a day that will be for me. Also my only grandchild's birthday is July 9th so that means I'll be able to hear all of her chatter at the party. She will be two and is just now talking up a blue streak.

Yea, Linda - July 3rd and just in time for your granddaughter's birthday - that's wonderful :)
I'll be about a month ahead of you - I'm due to get my processor on June 4th.
Glad to hear your site is healing nicely; thanks so much for the update,
Jan
