Title: Does tension or stress effects the healing process?
Post by: raji83 on November 18, 2014, 09:48:00 pm
All,
Just trying to find if tension or stress effects our recovery or healing process? Because I noticed if I feel stressed my head feels so heavy ryt away. Does anyone else face this issue? Just wondering. I don't want this stress to spoil my future. I am one month post op.
Thanks.

Hi raji83,

In response to your question, yes, stress affects the healing process post-surgery.Studies have shown that stress releases stress hormones called cortisol that rises blood pressure and add fat to your body.Stress may also suppress your immune system, thus affecting the healing process post-surgery.

Have you tried practicing relaxation techniques? Deep breathing may also help.

I was (and still am to an extent) very stressed and tense. My overall stress has gone down, but I still feel overly tense, which exhausts me, I think. When I was having severe sleeping problems the first week of recovery, my stress was through the roof.

I've been trying to keep my stress levels down with meditation and Xanax.
