Today (12/8/16) marks 1 year since i had my surgery to remove my AN. The recovery has been a remarkable journey. My scar is hardly visible and it's amazing considering i had about 14 staples for a 4-5 inch incision. I still retained half my hearing in my AN side and I've adapted to the tinnitus as long as i have white noise or a ipod. I didn't experience a lot of balance issues, but i walked a lot right after surgery and i still do everyday. (My dog keeps me active since she needs 4 walks a day) I just went on vacation 2 weeks ago on a 11 hour flight to Hawaii (i'm from NYC) and i had no issues with the airport, snorkeling, swimming, and of course the spiked pina coladas 8). I will be due for a second post-op MRI in August to check if there is any regrowth, but as of now i'm in the clear.
I want to send out some positive vibes that although everyone's outcome will be different, everything will be ok!

Congratulation Eddie. Great outcome.
Given that you retained half your hearing, it looks like you had retrosigmoid surgery.
Thanks for putting a positive story up.

THank you ANSydney, yep i had a 9 hour operation via Retrosigmoid and although i lost about 50% volume in my AN side, i'm grateful to retain the hearing i have left.
