I had to have my weight redone twice after the initial procedure because we just couldn't get the "perfect" one.  I had worn a temporary weight (external) and everything to try to assess the proper weight to put in, but until it gets "in there," they just can't know for sure!
I would definitely ask!

I also have a platenum weight and have a droopy eyelid.  I have had mine for 4 years and it is still the same.  I am going to have it taken out and see how I do.  Then I might have to have alighter one put in.
