Title: Acupuncture and Paralysis
Post by: CROOKEDSMILE on February 21, 2009, 02:03:22 pm
Hey guys,
I'm 19 months post op facial paralysis and just scheduled an appointment with the acupuncturist on Tuesday. Wondering if there is a timeline for this to be beneficial or if I have already passed it?

I know of a few people on the bells palsy site who have had this done, and they say they see a difference, i think it was once a week for a few month.

Good luck!  I'm a big fan of acupuncture.  Relieves all sorts of things for me.  I don't know about your situation, but I do know that generally my gal has you go once a week for a month, then starts extending it...every 2 weeks, then 3, then 4.  You can't just go a couple times, it doesn't work like that.

It took about 4 times for relief for my issues, but another good 4 times to all of a sudden think...oh my I don't hurt for days and days and day and weeks.  Now I just go every 2 months...and I'm pretty much pain free the whole time.  I think it's just amazing, and so does my disbelieving husband.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi Angie. I think you may as well try. Around here people seem to defy the odds and timetables on an ongoing basis. I know some people over at the HFS site get tremendous relief from acupuncture.

Take care,
Sara

That's funny, because I just called today to make an appt with an accupuncturist.  Who are you going to?  I'm going to try Michael Ranft, a D OM, because he was recommended by a friend.  I'm 3 months post-surgery and just now feeling like things are really trying to get fired up, so I figured it was a good time to start.  I've seen some fabulous results with my horses and accupuncture, and I feel like this could help our problem.
