Title: Middle Fossa approach anyone?
Post by: akajpa on June 24, 2008, 03:08:26 pm
hello

I've seen that a lot of people are doing the "translab" approach when it comes to surgery. I know that it's the best way to go when an is larger then 2 cm and the hearing has somewhat been afected (since most of the time, with this method, the hearing is sacrificed).

But how about Middle Fossa? for those with tumors at about 1.7cm and where the hearing is still good? anyonw had that mehtod???

Hi, akajpa -

I found this thread about mid-fossa and a 1.8 cm AN.  You might find it helpful http://anausa.org/forum/index.php?topic=6351.msg60598#msg60598

I had retrosigmoid surgery (my AN was 2.5+ cm) and the doctors were unable to save my hearing, but they removed the entire tumor.
