I'm not sure if I should be excited or scared, my AN side upper eye lid is twitching...alot and my eyelid is heavy sometimes. It's hard to describe...it's as if it is trying to close on its own. I still have facial paralysis and numbness on that side that is much improved over the last 7 years. These are brand new symptoms in the last month. I know I've read that the facial nerves can keep awaking even after many years but I'm afraid to be hopeful.
My fear is that the tumor is back.
Any comments??? I am due for an MRI and I've been putting it off. I guess I need to make that call.

Pembo,
I have noticed that my face is twitching much more lately, but more near the mouth-cheek area. I'm 5 1/2 years post-op. I would think that your eye twitching is a good thing. Probably a good idea to have the MRI done sooner rather than later so that you can stop worrying about it. Let us know how it turns out.

My MRI is set for 4/12 with a drs appt the following week. I really do hope it is just the nerve waking up. In that case I need to track down my facial therapist guy... I'll update

Hi Pembo
Good luck with your mri. I also have new twitches in various locations and hope it is good sign. My next mri not due until Dec. Keep us posted.

My MRI was clean and the doc says that the twitches are definitely the nerve waking up, after 7 years. I talked to Jackie Diels this week and she agrees that this is a good sign. I am looking into going to WI this summer to see Jackie. My doc said that she knows the most about the facial nerve. :)
Keep the faith...

this is great news.

Pembo,
Happy to hear your good news. It must feel good to know that the twitching is the nerve waking up and there are no new problems. It's always nice hearing that things are still improving so long after surgery.

Delighted with your good news.

I just logged in because in the last 3 months, I've had some lower "eyelid" twitching and when I'm tired, my eyelid is droopy. Wandering if anyone else has experienced that. Sounds like not something to worry about. I had my AN resection last November, so won't have a follow-up MRI until December. Opthamologist didn't see anything. Had my hip replaced last Friday. Hip replacements a piece of cake after brain surgery!
