Title: Temporary "stick on" eye weight option
Post by: 4cm in Pacific Northwest on February 20, 2008, 10:49:26 pm
Temporary eye weight option

I just wanted to share my success story for anyone who might be interested.

I woke up from surgery with full facial palsy. 2 days after surgery the eyelid function went too (i.e. with no ability to close or blink)

My ophthalmologist referred me to Oculofacial Plastic surgeon who thought because my eye was working immediately after surgery – it may come back. He suggested that I try this temporary double-sided-sticky-taped on eye weight… as to avoid more surgery (to implant and possible remove later)

http://www.medcompare.com/details/34993/Blinkeze-External-Lid-Weights.html

So for almost 5 months I taped under the eye (to prevent drooping) and for 6 months I stuck on this fiddly eye weight each day…

However the last 2 days I have not needed the eye weight and I appear to have regained normal function.

SO basically I never had the eye weight surgically implanted or a 'nip and tuck' surgery … just patience and tons of sticky tape.

Anyway I think this is a success story… and I wanted to share.

It worked for me – maybe it will work for someone else too.

Finally unglued,

4, it sounds like a big success to me. Congratulations on having the patience to see it through (oops, yet another pun).

Welcome back to the land of the blinking.

That is great news 4 ;)

You used one of the three important "P" words: "patience"-- it is a key term because during those first six months a lot of healing takes place.

Kindest regards,
Kate

I can't wait to see your picture when you are ready to post.  You are almost there girl.  You really do have patience.  It seems like once things start to happen, they happen very quickly.

I hope you are kicking up yor heels and dancing!! :D
