Title: I start treatments December 2
Post by: sandyinwisconsin on November 27, 2013, 05:02:51 pm
Please pray for me that I made the right decision and I can put this behind me.

After 6 long months, I decided to have 27 treatments of radiation at U.W. Madison in Wisconsin and trust in GOD that I have a great doctor.

My tumor is 1 cm and I'll be 44 on December 29.  I'm worried about future regrowth and cancer among other things.

I do have some good hearing in that ear, but the doctor thinks it will go away.

I'll be going Monday through Friday from December 2 - January 10.

Sandy

Think positive.

Radiation treatment has been around for decades and the patient studies show a high rate of success with a decent possibility that hearing can be preserved.

Hi Sandy, like Jack said "think positive".

It took me a year to make a decision.  I knew I had to do something because of the speed my little alien was growing at, but knowing you have to do something and wanting to do something are entirely different.  My treatment day itself was a non event but the relief I felt when it was all over and behind me was immense.  I'm coming up to 3 months post treatment and feel completely as peace with my decision, no more worries!

Try not to worry about regrowth or cancer down the road related to your AN.  I had that same concern until I put it in perspective - you could have any number of other serious health issues develop over the years, long before anything further develops with your AN.  Every time we get in a car and drive on a freeway, we put ourselves at risk for an accident.  We face risk everyday.  Focus on the positive - you are moving forward and all will be good!

Best of luck,
Cathie.

Sandy ~

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers next Monday (12/2).  My FSR was both painless and successful (the tumor 'died') and I wish you the same outcome.
