Advice?

(1/1)

Shrnwldr:
My surgery was 3 weeks ago Friday.  I was wondering walking about 1/4 mile or so per day...  would that be too much?

Also the dentist.... I go today, but I am not sure about how much work I should give them permission to do today.   Any advice?

Boppie:
quarter mile seems okay on flat groud but if you get tired you will need to be close to home; take water, sunglasses, etc. with you.  Routine dental work seems okay to me but I wouldn't allow any injections in the oral cavity just now.  You wouldn't want to risk disturbing the nerve endings in the tongue, mandible, or face right now.  It is rare but some people have numbness in the mouth for a several months after oral injections and dental work.

I guess the smart advice might be
start small - and work up  - a bit each day
I can remember when 100yds seemed about 5 miles away
Plan in stages - 100 - 200 - 300- increase slowly
you will know in time what you can handle
(I can now do 36 holes - say 7,000 yds ...)
- wasnt always like that
Best Regards
Tony

Shrnwldr:
Thank you both Boppie and Tony,
I didn't think about the dental work and injections. Thanksfully they just did xrays and that is all.  I told them anything else I would have to discuss with my doctor.  Thanks again Sharon

Hi Sharon,

It's great to hear that you are doing so well this soon after surgery. I don't know what to tell you on the walking. Everyone is different. Like Tony said I would take it a little at a time and move up a little each day. I did too much walking after my surgery one day and my body let me know it too. I couldn't get up the next day!
