had another appointment with the eye doc today .. tried on a few weights (stick on) ... set the surgery date as June 8th for getting 1.6 grams of gold .... the hard way.. ;D
-
Great news Joe !! You'll love how much more you can close your eye & you'll love the aesthetics of it. The fish won't recognize you !! I can't wait (but have no choice) for my new weight - hoping by the end of June (please, please) or July.
Always good thoughts my friend, Nancy

Joe,
I think it sounds easier than panning for gold in the hills! I agree with Nancy, the fish won't recognize you. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers! Does that mean you'll also save money on eye drops?

thats the whole reason for doing this .. its not the money.... its just a pain in the butt .. I cant leave the house with out drops with me ...
-
remind me not to give your my GenTeal coupons then! Sounds like you won't need them! :)
YAY JOE! Keep us posted!!!
Your ANA web-cohort-in-crime,
me :)
-
you have coupons !!! :o
-
you have coupons !!! :o
Hey, if I give them to you and you save money, you can buy me an extra apple dumpling at the next brunch :D
-
I hope ... after the eye weight surgery -- I wont need constant eye drops ... just once a day I would be happy... ;D
-
will make sure the coupons have a long lifespan! :) Looking forward to the weight doing the trick! :)
-
Lubricant needed only morning & night would make me a happy camper Joe !!!
-
nancyann - have you tried Restasis? My doctor started me on it last year. I went from using Lacrilube 3-4 times a day and a glob every night to one Restasis drop in the am and one in the pm. I love it.
-
Hi Pembo: Thanks for asking, but my optomologist, who I saw 5/15 said 'no' to punctual plug or Restasis - he said my problem isn't dry eye from no tears, my problem is dry eye from not being able to blink. So, 1/2 the world is a blur to me!!!! Thanks for the suggestion though !!!!! Always good thoughts, Nancy

Hi Joef
You will enjoy the eye weight. I will give you comfort. When I had mine it really helped but I'm a vain girl I couldn't wait to have it taken out.

Good Luck Joe and Nancy on the eye weights. Since I got my titanium weight I rarely use eye drops. My job is inside and I never have to use drops. When I'm outside I use Moisture control sunglasses or the clear patch and never have a problem. When I had my eye surgery the Dr said I wouldn't need eye drops anymore and for the most part he was right. I might feel a little discomfort twice a week and may use drops for a precaution but I really don't have to use it. I still can't blink my eye but it will close when I sleep. I'm so glad I went with the titanium weight, much lighter and less noticable.

Hi Ellis: Titanium is suppose to be really lightweight (I/& I'm sure alot of we's) have it in our heads as a mesh, screws, etc (now I literally may have a screw loose !!). Anyway, I'd think that if they used titanium for your eye weight it'd have to be larger looking to accomodate the weight needed ? And you say it looks okay ? What happened to the platinum - didn't you have platinum at one time? Nancy
-
Morning Nancy,
I was having a BAD AN day! My eye weight is platinum, it's my BAHA screw in my head that is titanium. I'm so full of metal I forget where it's all located at. But the platinum eye weight is very thin.

Well Ellis, looks like I'm not alone with the bad AN days, huh ? Hope things start looking up for you (&me).
All the best, Nancy ps: You did make me laugh re: " all the metal "....
-
Hey Joef: Hope all went well with your eye weight. Remember, 'ice packs, ice packs, ice packs'..... Best wishes, Nancy
-
I'm back .. an 1.6 grams of gold richer! ;) and more metal in my head --- so far the eye is swelling and a little tender ... it almost waters to much! .. but I noticed on the way in to work today I was not as blinded by the morning sun ... YAY~
-
Did the ice packs keep the swelling down I assume?
-
Absolutely - even after 24 hours - when I had the weight removed +re- tighten my lower lid in March, I needed the ice for about 4-5 days ! I called the doc to see if he ever wanted me to use warm packs, "Absolutely not!" You'll be so happy with the results Joe, give it time. Nancy
-
Joef,
Great to hear you got your eye weight. Like Nancy said stay with the ice packs, it will keep down the swelling and help with the brusing.

Its been a couple weeks now ... and I am happy with it .. glad I did it .. but I did think it would be better... still using a lot of drops.. but I will say it between the drops it does feel more like "normal" .. and I still assume it will get better with more time....
-
Hi Joe: Just wondering how you're liking the eye weight. Take care, Nancy
-
Good! ... I still get the odd bad day .. (where I need lots of drops) .. but I does feel better on most days...
-
update ...
its been a couple months now with the eye weight... and everything seems better....
I lube up and night .. a couple of drops after a shower in the morning (It cleans out any lube I might have and dries up the eye after) ...
and I'm good to go all day !!!! I very happy with it ... ;D ;D ;D
-
YEEEAAAAA !!!! glad to hear it's working for you - I gather you don't have alot of redness & swelling (oh yeah, that was only me with the allergy to gold!). I can't wait to get the platinum weight, but it will be a few months for that. Anyway, glad to hear you don't have to use drops/lubricant as often. Always good thoughts Joe, Nancy
