Title: multitasking
Post by: Brewers7 on May 19, 2011, 01:35:43 pm
Does anyone else experience difficulty multitasking?  Has it improved over time?

Well...that's a loaded question...I think I am quite the multi-tasker BUT as with everything else, I definitely think it's probably different than if I'd never had an AN. I have 3 girlies & had them all AFTER my surgery...I didn't have much choice but to multi-task!! I think it does get better though!

I know what you mean, I used to be able to multitask and now I can't!  I am 1 1/2 years out from trans lab.  Weird isn't it?

I think we are multitasking - we actively have to concentrate on hearing and balance. That was automatic before.

Thanks all.  I have been a bit frustrated lately about losing things  (keys, bank cards, etc.) while trying to do too many things at once.  Good point, Kenneth.  Hope your CSF is all plugged up now.  Been there.  Done that.

Unfortunately, my multi tasking skills have gone out the window, but then my kids are out of the house, so the need is not as great. For me, it does seem to have gotten a little worse over the years. I have the tinnitus that is competing with the hearing and equilibrium tasks :o. And my vision in my left eye is not good, so have to be REAL careful driving. It is a lot to do, just to keep focused!

My mind kind of feels kind of clogged with things I have to do, and I can't get through the list, even when it is written down~! Ah well, it is what it is.......

For the second time today, I have to agree with Jan.  I'm just about 5 years out from surgery and radiation and, although retired with no young children to deal with, I find that I can still multi-task at about the same level that I always have, including driving and computer use.  I believe this thread indicates, once again, the wide disparity of functionality post-op/radiation AN patients experience.

Actually, I can multitask better than before. (Truly I am just awesome all around these days.  ;D ) However, that may have something to do with sleep apnea being treated and being much, much reduced, combined with weight-loss, and of course the return to near-normal functioning of my brain stem.

Yes, life is a grand adventure these days.

I think I was losing my multitasking abilities due to age before I got the AN!  A lot of guys my age at work (mid 50's) have complained about this also. Maybe we're all getting older.  It sure beats the alternative ;D

What's multitasking?......... Just kidding (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v170/suujoy/lol.gif)

By the time I walk out of a room to do something I have to walk back to try to think of what I was going to do.  I treat it as my exercise for the day.

I blame everything else on the void that's left in my head so I also blame it for this as well.  :)
