hello everyone
I 've had my AN since 2006 and it grew from about 1.1 x 0.5 x 0.6 to 2.2 x 1.5 x 1.9 in the last year and a half. The last MRI done showed there is a "mucous retention cyst"....I've read that some AN has those cyst and that surgery would be the way to go but I would like to have more info.
Anyone has the same thing?

That is an interesting question. I had a cystic AN, but was never told that this would be a factor in radiation versus surgery. In my case, surgery was dictated by the location of the tumor more than anything else.
if I remember correctly, two of the surgeons I met with mentioned that the MRI showed a cystic component to the AN; and I recall that both treated it like a non-issue.
Will be very interested to see what others have to say about this?

As with any AN, the best determination is in the doctor's review of the scan. However, this question pops up from time to time and has been addressed in the past. The Cystic component simply means there is a pocket of fluid and as Debbie correctly pointed out it is usually a non factor in selecting a treatment option
