Hi all,
Here is the link to the official calendar of events.
http://my.calendars.net/AN_Treatments
Please let me know if you cannot add items to it. I'm trying to have this thread with the link as a "sticky" thread and will advise if it will be done.
Thanks!
Phyl
-
COOL - thanks Phyl - I just tried it out...... ;D
-
Hi Phyl: I tried to log onto that website & couldn't
What am I not doing right????
Looks like Obita was able to get on.
(Think I may need a computer course !)
-
Hey Nancyann,
Ok, let's check a few things...
1. Do you have a pop-up blocker on? If yes, then try this...
2. Highlight the link... then "copy" it by right clicking the mouse on the highlighted link and select "copy". Then, go to the URL Web address line on your Internet brower and "Paste" the link.... maybe that will do the trick.
Let me know fi it works. I tried it again and it is working for me.
For anyone else.... please add to the calendar. At the top of the calendar, you can choose a month, highlight a particular date and "add an event".
I hope you all find this helpful.
Phyl
-
the link worked for me again......sorry policewoman, I just wanted to see if I could put something on there.
St. Patrick's Day IS important. ;D
-
Hey Phyl: I got there, boy you're good, but I didn't see a calendar of events that I thought would be there.
I thought there would be an AN calendar with AN issues going on all over the USA.
Are we the one's who add to the calendar (geez, I'm so clueless sometimes.... make that frequently !)

Nancyann, the calendar is there as Kathy/Obita even made a change to it (cute reminder Kathy!). Make sure you copy and paste the entire link:
http://my.calendars.net/AN_Treatments
(make sure you highlight the whole thing, inlcuding /AN_treatments. That is key)
Let me know...
Phyl
-
Okay Phyl: I did that, pasted it to Google, can't link on.
When I pasted it to this forum seach (at top of page), it takes me to a page where you & Obita each have
a box that says the subject, date (your in March, Obita in February), that's all I see.
What's the URL web address line?? (I'm hopeless with this computer...)
-
Hi NancyAnn. I have found out you are not alone in trying to access the calendar, yet, others are able to.
JoeF, you technical type of guy (or anyone else)... can you access the calendar ok and any thoughts as to why some can access and some can't? I believe most are using Internet Explorer and I want to make sure "pop up blocker" is not active unless you copy and paste the link.
Other than me and Obita/Kathy, is anyone else able to access it? If so, what kind of internet browser are you using and did you access by clicking the link here or copy/paste into the URL Web Address line on your browser?
thanks!
Phyl

One of my brothers is coming to visit a week from Saturday, he's better on computers than I am,
he'll probably know how to maneuver to the site, I'll ask him then. Thank you Phyl, I appreciate
all your help.
-
Sounds good Nancyann... we're looking into this now as I got an email from someone else having issues trying to access as well. We're on it! :)
Phyl

Nancyann, try pasting it on the Internet Explorer URL web address line, not the Google search line....
Phyl
-
I did get the calendar .. but when tried to Add a item ... I received an error ... seems to me the server is overloaded !! :(
-
I hope this particular web calendar will work for us... does anyone else have a suggestion for a web-access calendar that we can all access and add/edit?
I thought this one would work... sorry.
Phyl
-
Phyl, I'm so computer illiterate - I thought I had Internet because I have BellSouth Internet, is it different from what you're talking about ?
Does it cost anything extra ? Maybe I should just wait for my brother.....
When my nephew visited this past August, he took me to Best Buy, picked out this laptop(I wanted a laptop), & hooked everything up.
Then, in October, I got BellSouth & a friend hooked up the wireless thing. Geuss since everyone helped me I didn't learn a thing on my own....
-
Hi Nancyann,
No, it doesn't (I believe) have anything to do with which internet access you are using. We are researching now as some are able to access it and some cannot. Sit tight and if your brother can take a peek for you, that may help as well.
We're working the issue and will advise.
Phyl
-
Hey Phyl,
I went in and was able to create an entry in Feb for my 6 month MRI...
Mary
-
Thanks Bruce and Mary... I am also trying to get this thread as a "sticky" so we all have access to the calendar for updates.
Custodian, eh? ;)
Phyl
-
I have accessed the calendar with no problems.
I noticed Joef added his birthday, is someone going to transpose the B'days thread over to this calendar?
-
I'll update the calendar with the bdays, treatment days, etc... ok, I'll do it :)
Suggestion, if you all PM me here with dates of treatments, etc, instead of posting in a thread (that I may miss a thread post), I will update the calendar. I already have the bday list, so if there are treatments, follow ups, weddings, etc, just send me a PM and I'll add it to the calendar. Just give me a wee bit of time to do the updates. I'll work it this weekend, ok? :)
Phyl
-
Geez Phyl, won't that be a huge burden on you, I mean, there are ALOT of us.
There must be a better way then for you to do all the work.
I wouldn't want your husband suing US for divorce !!!!!!!!!!
Gotta love ya, Nancy
-
No worries Nancyann... glad to help with it.... and if he divorces me over it, you all will pay any alimony! :)
Glad to do it.
Phyl
-
No Divorce- Nancy Ann already has enough on her plate and yet be repsonsible for alimony too! I'll chip in on alimony if it get's that bad...life time supply of fresh pears...
Okay, I just posted Spring Equinox and did fine- however, I have a new laptop (6 months old) new macfee ect...
NancyAnn- have one of the nephews help you- I'm amazed at what my nephews know- just make sure they speak English or at least explain things slowly, ( my nephew gets going so fast I have to slow him down)! Take care, Annie
-
Annie, Spring Green looks great :)
Anyone else having issues accessing the calendar? I'll update the bdays on it later... and if there is an event (such as AN treatment, follow up, wedding, etc), please email me here so I can update the calendar.
Thanks!
Phyl
-
http://my.calendars.net/AN_Treatments
There are recent updates on the calendar... other than NancyAnn, is everyone able to access it and do updates?
Phyl
-
Hey Phyl: I was able to log onto the calendar at my work computer, but not on my laptop at home.... go figure....
-
Hey Phyl: I was able to log onto the calendar at my work computer, but not on my laptop at home.... go figure....
YAY! Great job Nan! :)
Phyl

Any luck with the sticky thingy Phyl? 'Tis getting buried again. ;D
-
I was able to access the calendar by clicking on your link and able to add my surgery date and B'day to it. Neat idea you had. Thanks, Jean
-
Any luck with the sticky thingy Phyl? 'Tis getting buried again. ;D
the powers that be were having issues accessing it and pushing to have it as a sticky.
Jean, thanks for addiing you info there! That is most helpful.
If anyone else is having issues accessing the calendar (NancyAnn, I assume you are all set now?), please let me know.

Glad it helps!

Hey PPPPPearl.....I managed to get to the calendar...a big event for me...not that computer savvy..but cannot add into it......let me know what the heck I am doing wrong..I was going to post my date..albeit a bit early..but figured I had the time...at the moment to do so..and .....nothing...what do I click?
Thanks and really cool link...good for people like me whom have to write everything down..or out the brain it goes.....

I've never been able to get into the calendar... :-\
Katie
-
Thanks ceecee for letting me know....
katie... hmmmmmmmmmmm.... ??? Not sure as there are only a few that can't see it. Let me ask my techhie dudes to see what I can find out. You access from home on cable modem or DSL?
P
-
Hey...ppppppppppearl...I just like typing it that way by the way...anyways, I figured it out...I have to click on the the little icon that is the date...ahaa! super genius moment..yippee.
Ceecee
-
Ceecee... too funny but glad it works for you now.
In reading recent threads, I know there are folks with upcoming treatment options this next month or so that aren't noted on the calendar. If you'd post them here, I will add them to the calendar (unless you want to) so we can track along and pull out pirate socks as needed.
http://my.calendars.net/AN_Treatments
If anyone is still having problems (besides the powers that be) in accessing the calendar, please let me know.
Thanks!
Phyl
-
I will do my best...sorry for slow reply..been busy with schoooooool...getting closer to graduating though..this year I will be a coldge gradiat.....yeah...anyway, I will look through the post and see who is doing what..give me a day or so..

???
-
I was finally able to use the calendar by accessing this link (note the extra www at the beginning of the URL):
http://www.my.calendars.net/AN_Treatments (http://www.my.calendars.net/AN_Treatments)
I think it has to do with how DH has security set up on our computer...
Katie
-
Thanks Katie! :) I owe you a sundae at the brunch next week for your help with the link! :)
er, can you access it now using Katie's link?
Phyl
-
I visited the calendar for the first time--HOW KEWL!
Phyll, with all you've got going on in your life, I'm amazed at how you can still find time for all the stuff you do for other people. You are truly an inspiration for us all.
Be Well, Everyone!

Thanks

This is so cool Phyl! :D I just added my stuff--very easy to do! Thanks.
-
glad you all find this helpful! Truly does help with the short-term memory issue, ya know? ;)
-
*bump*
I'm going to bump this as there is so much noted for August/September and surely do not want to miss upcoming "events".... for those celebrating post-treatment anniversaries... for upcoming bdays (and those that are belated).... etc. Hoping you all are still using this as, IMO, this is a great tool to keep track of things....
FYI... looks like we should begin to update 2008... just a thought.

Phyl
-
I got to calander and then just added to my favorites list
worked...and sometimes I can get totally lost on the computer
-
Soundy,
thriled it worked out for you... :) thanks for adding it and making it a "favorite"... you won't be lost now. :)
Lots of events the next 2 months... if anyone else needs to add to it, please do... if anyone has issues accessing it, please let me know... we have run into 1 or 2 that couldn't.
Enjoy!

Hi all,
In many threads this past week, folks have inquired or referenced this calendar that was created to help track fellow AN'ers for treatments, milestones, etc.... so, I'm re-posting this for ease of reference since many have inquired. You all have access to it to add what you would like and we try to post treatments, follow ups, procedures and yes, milestone AN anniversaries and yes, our birthdays.
Hope this helps.

8) This is so cool! I feel like the first one through the buffet line. I nabbed April 30...
Debbi - B minus 27!!!

Deb -
I just noticed from your signature line that you now have a blog 8)
Love the name! I refer to my AN journey as my "surgical extravaganza". Didn't have my own blog, but I wish now that I had started one.

just wanted to say that every time I tried to access the calendar via the link you gave us, it didn't work. So I went back and read prior posts and finally got into the calendar using the above link provided by Katie.
I thought I'd quote it here in case others are having problems accessing the calendar.
Jan
-
So it isn't just me. I had to cut and paste it to open it.
BTW, we all need to be vigilant and notify new ANers that they need to post their procedures on the calendar. CherylR and Melissa, please make sure to add yours.
David
-
The calendar is awesome. Thank you for the link Jan and Katie. I was able to access it that way too.
-

David
I confess, when I was adding my own personal events to the calendar, I also took the liberty of adding the 2009 ANA Symposium and a few surgery and anniversary dates of others that I knew. If I goofed anyone's date up, please correct it.
Jan
-
Hi all, glad you worked out the tweek needed for access... maybe as originator of calendar, I didn't need the "www" but glad it all works for you now and tickled to see you all are updating... added my own little update for April as well! :)
Enjoy and hope it helps the cause!

Cool, Phyl 8)
Let me be among the first to say Happy Anniversary and Congratulations ;D

Thanks hun... I have to look back at 2 yrs ago and just remind myself "you've come a longgggggggggggggg way, baby!" :)
Continued wellness to you all!
Phyl
-
Thanks to whoever added my surgery date to the calendar! I went over to do it and saw that it was already there! You guys are on the ball, eh?
Regards,
Pooter...
-
I confess, it was me.
I wasn't sure if anyone reminded you to add your date and I didn't know if you were even aware of the calendar, so when I was in there looking around I just added it.
Hope you don't mind,
Jan
-
Not at all, Jan! I think someone had mentioned it at one time, but at the time I didn't have a date. Then I was perusing the forum and found this topic and it reminded me that I needed to go add it. And the rest is history. All kinds of dates to remember these days... 28th pre-op testing (blood, chest x-ray, ekg, etc..) and charity golf tournament, 5/2-5/4 camping with Daughter with our YMCA group, 5/5 pre-op visit with doctor and then 5/8 surgery... I may have to break down and buy a calendar to carry around with all the dates of things I need to remember. I don't typically have enough going on to have to write it down..
Thanks again, Jan! :D
-
My short term memory was shot for a while after the trans lab............you may want to buy a pocket calendar just to keep up!! I use several!! Keeping you in good thoughts.................Brenda
-
Your short term memory was shot for awhile? Can you define "awhile" ? Several pocket calendars? Is that because you can't remember where you put them? ;) (KIDDING!)
All of these potential changes (short term memory problems, multi-tasking problems, headaches, balance issues, etc..).. I can't decide if I'm intruigued about what changes are in store for me post-op or scared out of my whits about them. ;)
Btw, is it bad that I beat the surgeons to the punch and just shaved my head? At least one part of all this can be done on MY terms! heh
Brian

Brian, bald is the new "in"..... I bet it looks great on you! :) Yep, some of what you note does crop up.... as we know, "individual results may vary".... good to know in advance what has happened with some folks post treatment..... for me.... I knew in advance some of these things can occur.... didn't anticipate them but if it did happen, at least it didn't throw me completely off guard... ya know?
TGIF!
Phyl
-
Haha... I have always told dear wife since we dated in college that if I started losing it on top (like my father) then it's ALL coming off! I'm not so much into the comb-over thing personally. So, I actually started shaving it a couple of years ago, but ironically a few months ago I started letting it grow out (cuz wife likes me with hair best). Then, after finding out about the AN on a Thursday, by Saturday it was all gone again. She wasn't thrilled, but understood. Luckily I've been told that I "have the head" for being shaved. It's gonna look SWEET with my nice new scar in a few weeks! It'll make me look tough! (That's what I'm telling myself anyhow) :D So long as I don't forget where I put she razor! heh
Brian
-
Brian,
My short term memory is off and on again. Some of us have that problem. I wouldn't worry about it. My younger brother used to tell my Mom, "If you can't keep up, take notes." It worked for her, calendars and a daily journel works for me.
Brenda
-
How does one edit an entry on the calendar? My Dr now says they're going to do retrosigmoid rather than translab. When there was some confusion about which approach we were going with, I changed my signature to simply say "surgery scheduled" rather than specifying the approach. Now, it seems as though we've settled on retrosigmoid or "combination approach" (whatever the heck that means!).
I can't believe it's 2 weeks away!
Brian
-
Hey Brian,
You should be able to click on your date of (current) treatment, then it will bring you to another screen where you can choose the option to "edit" it..... if you have troubles doing so, let me know and I'll edit for you.
Phyl
-
Brian -
2 weeks until your surgery ???
I haven't consulted the calendar lately, but I think Deb is right in front of you.
Boy, time sure flies when you're having fun ;D
It seems like yesterday that you both were newbies, now you're almost posties!
Jan
-
Phyl - That's what I was doing wrong! I was trying to click on the entry itself, not on the date. Thanks for the tip!
Jan - Yeah, 2 weeks! Debbi is exactly 1 week before me (Hi Debbi!!). Now, there's a "kimberly" having surgery on the same day as me. And, you're right it seems like yesterday that I was a newbie (still am, really), but in some ways it seems like it's dragging on forever between diagnosis, decision on treatment and actually getting treatment. I'm ready to get it over with, to be honest.
Brian
-
I'm ready to get it over with, to be honest.
Yeah, I remember that feeling. Surgery day will be here before you know it.
In the meantime, try to relax :)
Jan
-
I think the door may have closed on relaxing. Three days left and I am a bundle of nerves! My attention span is next to nothing and my memory is a disgrace! I can't even get out of the room I'm in without forgetting what I got up for! ::) Went grocery shopping yesterday (wanting to stock up on basics while I am able) and it was just a mess - lost my cart three times! Ha!
However, I am still finding things to laugh about (a few tears, too, I must confess). Next week by this time, I hope to be getting discharged from the hospital.
Pooter and Kimberly are on the bench and next up to bat! I promise to set a high standard, guys!
Debbi - hanging in NJ
-
Phyl - That's what I was doing wrong! I was trying to click on the entry itself, not on the date. Thanks for the tip!
denada... glad to help! :)
Debbi, hang in there! My pirate socks are April Fresh and ready to go! You hang in there!!!!
Phyl
-
Well, then, I'll be sure to get through this with flying colors - can't waste an April-fresh pair of pirate socks, can we?
Debbi - two days and counting...
-
Hey Debbi, read you're blog sounds awhole lot what I went through.I was looking forward to AN surgery ,to get this lump out of my head.I would wake up at night thinking about things. Thoughts&Prayers go out to you now & Wed.ect... Teresa
-
Thanks, Teresa - yes, definitely sleeping in shifts now. It will be good when I can get an entire 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep again!
Debbi - packing socks and stuff...
-
Debbi - Was thinking about ya all day and sending wishes of calm and tranquility as you approach your surgery date. You're leading the charge for the rest of us who have procedures over the next couple of weeks, so we're right behind you cheering you on with well wishes and lots of prayers! I'm sure a few have fly-by kisses to the forehead and cyber-huggles and the like. ;)
Brian
-
Debbi -
Pooter's right. I'm thinking good thoughts and sending calm wishes also - along with prayers for a swift recovery.
You have a great, upbeat attitude going into your surgery and it will prove very helpful to you. I'm confident things will work out fine and I'm looking forward to the post op report from your husband or whoever else will be updating us.
Remember that lots of us have been there before you and know what you are going through. We'll be anxiously waiting to welcome you back as a fellow "postie" ;D
All the best,
Jan
-
Hi All-
Well, this should be my last post until "the other side." My hubby and parents and are getting ready to head into NYC this afternoon to get everyone settled. My parents are staying at a friend's apartment on E. 50th, which is an easy walk to NYU, and Willie is staying at a hotel a few blocks from the hospital. Looks like they want me there at about 6 AM tomorro and I shoudl go into surgery around 8:30 AM - so by this time tomorrow, I'll have a hole in my head!! ;D
Okay, making lots of jokes, but scared poopless (Phyl, is that okay?) Just closing up my office this morning, taking care of a few last minute client communications, etc. And trying to remember to breath...
Debbi - less than 24 hours to lift-off
-
poopless is fine, hun, especially when its out of ya due to less than 24 hrs.
Pirate socks are washed, April fresh and ready to rock and roll. Debbi, you are going to do great.... and can't wait to have you as "postie" status. you hang in there and know I'm cheering you on, sending wellness wishes and a few Queenie Beanie, the "toot" queen healing toots (my dog, the Pug, due to high fiber diet... gets pretty rough at home with her, if you know what I mean... ;) )
Hang in there!
Phyl
-
Best of luck Debbi, Sending you well wishes to a speedy recovery. I cant' wait to hear from you after!
Melissa.......16 days and counting...I'm getting scared....
-
And, one more thing (really, this is the last one...) My husband, Willie, will post tomorrow or Thursday with an update so look for a post from WAB.
Ahoy!
Debbi
-
Good luck tomorrow wiith your surgery. Part of the day is easy for you since you will be out of it and the wait is hard on the family. You will be in my thoughts. I am 12 days post op and good in some ways and tired in others.
Make sure and take a pic of yourself today and take your camera to the hospital so can get one there post op.
Cheryl R
-
So it's finally here. Remember back to when you couldn't even get this thing scheduled. You'll do great, Debbi. By this time tomorrow you'll be waking up in ICU minus a brainbooger saying "Waaa happened?" My prayers are with you.
David
-
Bump up--Lots going on this month!

Phyl, Thanks so much for the Calendar. What a nice idea!
-
Phyl, Thanks so much for the Calendar. What a nice idea!
denada... to me, the only true way to keep track of all the activities around here! Esp. since many of us have dr's notes for "short term memory" issues... I milk that dr's note all the time... just don't tell the bloke! ;)
Phyl
-
Didn't stick it on calender but have appointments today with surgeon ,audiologist and gonna stop in and run through
PT re-check of balance issue progress ... wish me luck...
Doctor tries to get me to spread things over a week but two or three trips up I-65 would be worse than three
offices in a day ... have to host Kindergarten Graduation tomorrow at 9:00AM and then plan on coming home and
sleeping off today trip ... last appointment is at 2:30 ... figure an hour at the least there and 2 hour drive home with
a planned stop at the Galleria Mall
so I'm blasting off right now and won't see home til maybe 8:00 or so ... longgggggggggggggggggg day
-
No sign of any regrowth ... a hearing issue cleared up ... more in hearing issues but maybe not til
tomorrow cause I'm tired
Good Night

Good Night
No sign of regrowth works for me! :) Great news Soundy! congrats! :)
Phyl
-
Yea, Soundy!!! No regrowth!!!!
Jan
-
Hi
thanks! I just entered my info for Friday's surgery. thanks. Pol 8)
-
No regrowth was good ...
A while back I had some drainage from good ear... and decrease in hearing... gave me steroids and that
was about it ...
yesterday told doctor I was still losing hearing ... he goes poking the little black funnel tip thing in my ear looking
and says it looks fine bur my canal seemed to be smaller... he put some kind of tiny speculum looking thing just
inside ear and spread ( OUCH) and looked in with tiny camera ... and there is a growth... a bump protruding out
into canal... blocking sound .... they have been looking in at ear drum and seeing nothing wrong ... the lumpy bumpy
was being hid under the funnel thing( I know it has a name but at the moment escapes me ) and the tip was past
it ... he numbed up the inside and used tiny picks and looped wired scalpels to shaved it off in about 6 super thin slices...
says it was either a wart or possibly scare tissue built up where a blister had formed and drained (fluid dripping from ear)...
thinking that there had been an un-detected fungal infection...
I can hear so much better with it gone ... sent off tissue to see what it was ...will know something by end of week...
just plain weird
-
Hi
thanks! I just entered my info for Friday's surgery. thanks. Pol 8)
Good luck, Pol!

NICE!!!!
Thank you,
I went and saved it on a page that I save e-mail address.

Hey Moderators! How about making this a sticky topic so we all don't have to hunt for the dang calendar! Or post the link, and lock it and stick it! ( you know what I mean!)
Capt Deb (http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee60/Captdeb_photos/pirate2.gif)
-
I know how to lock a topic, but I don't know how to make one sticky. ???
If nothing else, I can always bump this one back up in the list.
Steve
-
will ask the powers that be if they can make this a "sticky" topic.......
also "bumping" this thread as there is been much talk by many folks here about using the calendar for upcoming AN events (and yes, birthdays as well). Many newbies on the site with upcoming treatments that we want to be able to follow... LADavid and Debbi are following the calendar for upcoming event reminders.
Phyl
-
Just a reminder to everyone, we're posting the week's upcoming events under "Pre-Treatment Options". There's a lot going on this week.
David
-
Thanks for the reminder, David.
I'll make sure I tune in under "Pre-Treatment Options".
Jan
-
FWIW:
As soon as the AN Treatment Calendar was established I 'bookmarked' it for more immediate acquisition. Easy to find and easy to capture.
Just a thought from your humble correspondent. :)
Jim
-
Jim
I bookmarked it as well. But Phyl suggested a place where we could start a weekly thread of well-wishes so no one got left out -- and I could go into a little more detail on who was who. It worked last week -- this week -- hmmm.
