I had GK about 6 weeks ago and am having problems with my phlegm, it is so sticky that it is hard to swallow it.
The internet says the answers to this are: Musinex, water, not eating dairy or white flour, which seems to be true for me.
Anyone else had this problem? Do you have any solutions?
Thanks,
Kathy Gronau

i had almost no saliva (at least it seemed like it) for several months post-op. of course, that makes it harder to spit/swallow phlegm. Lots of water helped me the most. chewing gum also helped with saliva production too. good luck to you.

Thanks for responding to my query. It is good to know that others have the same lack of saliva.
Sorry to hear that you had complications after your operation. Are you ok now?

my dentist gave me a high flouride toothpaste last week, which is for dry mouth, he also says if that doesnt help you can get tablets to stimulate the saliva glands, he said smints are good for dry mouth and chewing gum

I will always have no working salivary glands on the AN side. I use Biotene mouthwash daily & also an RX toothpaste. I am constantly drinking water, using Listerine breath strips & green tea with echinacea drops.
Unfortunately, my mouth still remains constantly dry. I think I've just gotten use to/accepted this.
Always good thoughts, Nancy
