Hi all,
well, time to plan again. With bridal showers, graduations, etc... time to preplan the next brunch at Maxwell's:

Was thinking April (just in time to celebrate kbonner/Katie's new arrival!)
Last brunch, as many know, we filled the "rim to the brim" and busted the walls out of the Boardroom (ie: overflow capacity). I want to make sure we plan this well in advance to secure enough space.
so, thoughts? Timeframe? Date?
Time to start planning all... for all those interested, please note here (so I can get approx head count so I can let the restaurant know).
Please list your name for interest in attending... and a good date that you can attend. We usually do the Sunday Brunch (see link above... follow to the brunch menu, which will note what all is included and cost).

I'm good for April but the last week ... I have not pined down the actual dates yet .. but I ALWAYS go fishing with my father-in-law....
what was the final count last time? because I dont think we could get any bigger unless we get a different room ..

I don't have anything coming up so far, but April is almost 3 months away and anything can happen. With that caveat, count me in (with Tina, of course) for attendance at an April brunch at Maxwells in Worcester. :)

I'm there! I'll be 7 weeks post-op. Can't wait to be on the other side. Maybe I can schedule a doctor's appointment in Boston for Monday to take advantage of the drive down. See you soon.

Spoke to Bill... told him we didn't want the same situation as last time... for the brunch veterans, now back to our original brunch time (has been earlier and earlier the past couple of brunches). No one coming in after us.. the Boardroom is all ours... and Gil is being prewarned! :D

Thanks! I'll write this on our April planner.
Because many of us are coming from a fair distance (100 miles for Tina and me), the 12:15 time is much better for us. Now, we can hang out a little longer without worrying about the time or having wait people re-setting the table around us, which is somewhat intimidating as well as annoying.

Hi Phyl,
I would certainly love to attend with my husband. After 13 months post surgery, I am just beginning to feel almost human again (was afraid to plan anything beyond 15 minutes). Any Sunday would work for me at this time.

I can't commit right now (typical of a man, huh?) but my surgery is March 5th, and I plan to visit my parents in Boston toward the end of my sick leave (end of April), so I might be able to attend? I am going to try, but again, can't be sure. I know, that's not very helpful. Sorry :).
Oh, and I'm guessing my wife would attend too, work permitting.

Glad to see that the list is growing, hey when did you update your picture? Looks great. Oh by the way, Dr. McKenna told me that I would have an MRI in one year, Feb of 2010 and then on Friday, I receive a letter in the mail that one needs to be done in 6 months. This will my fourth MRI in a year in a half.

Thank you, Theresa. I would love to meet many of my virtual friends in person, not to mention attempt to eat one of those apple fritters. Having a challenging goal is good for motivating the recovery mechanisms. I've added back the visit to my son in Scotland but just two or three weeks after his 21st birthday rather than for it in May.

As it turns out, my family is coming south from New England to visit us here in Florida through the weekend just before the brunch. Also, regardless of my driving skills, I will be returning to work that week (watch out! :o ). I do promise to try to make the next one though!

Lisa, got me 2 sets of tix to BoSox.... end April vs. the "Evil Empire" and in July against the Orioles. Maybe I'll show up in me BoSox gear as well! (we all did that when we won the 2007 W.S.... the brunch was great with all of us in BoSox stuff!)

I will be heading to Boston from Houston myself that weekend for the marathon! And have every excuse to carbo load at brunch the day before, guilt free :) How cool that I will be able to do two very special things the same weekend! I would love to attend if I still can.
I will be one week pre-surgery at that point, too, so it will be EXTRA good to meet you all :)

We try, but its no longer our little group that sat on a normal table .... its first come first serve, late comers wont get pick of seats. we need a bigger place!
I almost was not going to make it! .. I talked to my father-in-law and fishing is not going to get in the way like last year... I will be there!!
(we are going fishing the next week, I go Salmon fishing in Canada every end of April for the last 15 years, even a AN did not get in the way!)

well, folks.. we have now, once again, broken the brunch headcount record... now, we have..... 28! :o :o :o
I am taking cover from our lovely host, Bill (I'll be hiding under the Carving Station!) and its going to be tight in the Boardroom. We don't have access to the Boardroom until 12ish, so we need to meet in the Lobby first before we head upstairs. Will have to talk to Bill about our next brunch and room size... will see what I can negotiate.
Spoke to my all-time fave, Brazilian nut! Gave him the headcount for the dumplins.... he poo'd his pants! Said we are their fave group that comes in since we don't come in and stir up trouble (yeah, speak for you all... but as for me.... you know they take cover!). Apple dumplin head count all set!
Only regrets at this time. If someone wanted to attend and didn't sign up in time, I am so very sorry and please keep a keen eye in the "AN Community" forum for the next one (wow! already talking the next one!).

When we stopped in at Maxwell's after a trip to NYC, it was a mixed crowd, so jeans and a nice top to a pretty dress, the whole shabang!
Dave designed and built the prototype of the Vermont Garden Telescope for clients. It's the 400th anniversary of Galileo's telescope this year, so CBS Sunday Morning is doing a show on telescope stuff. It was supposed to air in December, but now they're saying April. Who knows?

I was just thinking that perhaps I could bring the journal down for anyone interested in adding a photo and write-up. There don't seem to be any surgeries next week, and Lauralynn received the scarf on Saturday, so I can ship the journal to her on Monday for Wednesday arrival.

I've never been to this area before. I'll check on the website though and get their address and phone number. When we stopped in on a fluke on our way home from NYC, we called Dave's daughter and asked her to google the place. It sent us to their corporate catering headquarters, and we had to get directions from a pedestrian. Be sure you get the restaurant, not the renovated Union Station (?) offices.
It's easy to find, and an "everyone knows your name" kind of place in that town.

We had someone try GPS and they were lost all over Worcester and was 1-1/2 hrs late... suggestion, don't use GPS, use the directions on the website. Restaurant has a big, red British Double decker bus, the building is large brick, next to the Worcester Police station (no bail money required for the brunch... unless someone steals my apple dumplin!)
2. We have had 2 regrets... my spouse :( and.... our fanatic fisherman, my Moderating co-hort in mod crime, JoeF. So, with that said..... JoeMeehan and sister, you JUST squeeked in! :) (we are only allowed 20 peeps in the private room we have, so we blew that headcount. It's VERY tight in the room.... but, with the 2 cancelled, we now have a replacement Joe in attendance :) )

Enjoy it everyone. Maybe I'll make the next one to meet all of you. I've "been told" that I'm staying home for the weekend and just relaxing which is fine by me. Of course, Maxwells with 24 AN patients compared to three kids at 12,9, and 2.5 chasing each other around the house is probably a wash in terms of the relaxation factor. Have fun!!!!

Thanks for the pictures! It's also nice to see names because I didnt' get a chance to talk to everyone. What a great group of people. I want my husband to run fast at the marathon tomorrow so that he can re-qualify for Boston and we can come up again. Or I'll have to Boston qualify (not likely!)
Also, my driving in Boston today (in those tunnels and on the streets that you get stuck on and can't exit off of, and did I mention the one way streets I went down the wrong way?) anyway, it proves that you can survive AN surgery and still go through the stress of driving in Boston without too many ill effects (or tickets, or wrecks). Rich, I guess the MA police you warned looked the other way when they saw me coming!
So nice to be there and meet you all. I'm now hungry thinking about all that food.
Kaybo - when I make it back to Texas, we can try to get a reunion going! I'd love some TX barbeque.

Thanks for the names - I had most of them figured out! No, sadly, there is no group here. I know one lady from my hairdresser and I stalked one lady in WalMart - they are MUCH, MUCH older than I am - even though I do visit with Marsha at the hair place. I know one other lady (& am waiting in the wings to help her) but she is in TOTAL denial - can't even talk at all about it. She is in Watch and Wait - she is over the gymanstics at the community college where Kendie takes gymnastics so I see her all the time. When we were in Houston at Christmas, Dave & I met up with Pooter, MsMaggie, Brendalu and Waypoint - it was wonderful!! Keri-I will take you up on that!!

*burp*.... well, another grande time had by all! I appreciate the "thanks" but... I do nothing but hold the room.... you all are what "make" the brunch, so I thank everyone for showing up! Now, based on the last headcount and yesterday's headcount, we are, once again, graduating to a larger room, depending on how the next one goes for those interested in attending. Out of the "boardroom" and onto "Maxine's" room! :)

Hello all,
I'm glad to say I have turned in my rental car and am sitting in NH just waiting for my flight. The tunnels / driving in Boston is wicked stressful !(isn't wicked a Boston word)? I survived! I headed into town today on the T. Got a great spot near the finish. My husband didn't requalify with this race (4:00ish) but at least I saw him coming down the stretch. He had a smile kind of frozen on his face! He looked kind of out of it but happy in a robot sort of way! I looked for Laura and didn't see her. I'm sure she did well. That was an experience. Being near the end with all those buildings forming kind of an echo chamber makes for a great finish for marathon runners.
I had a great time up here, though it was a quick visit. I think I drove more in 2 days than I do in MD in a month! It was so nice to meet all of you and I hope I can come back sometime. If any of you want to come to the DC area, let me know (or Baltimore)!!

What a great day! I only had decaf and still was wired all afternoon. It was so wonderful to meet all of you, and thanks to Rich and his great pictures, I hopefully can remember everyone's names. Phyl, I know you don't want any thanks, too bad, thanks anyway, you are almost as sweet as the apple dumplins! Jane, Lisa, Theresa, great to talk to you in person. Molly - so great to meet you, it was fun. Leslie - get that BAHA and be as good as new, maybe even better if that is possible!!! Thanks to all of you who took the time to share and talk. Many, many thanks to Phyl and Jane for making the brunch possible. It was great to see everyone again and meet new people. Grandma Mary, YogaSue, and Joef were missed.
The brunch was WONDERFUL--as usual.
Rich, thank you for the terrific pictures. I thought that I had escaped Phyl's camera, but I see that she snapped me just before I was ready to devour my apple dumpling. Mercifully, there is no photograph record of the 3 desserts I ate before the dumpling.

Honestly, I looked at the facial progress photo that Dave took of me yesterday and almost had a panic attack.
I loved meeting all of you. Dave was amazed at the strength of character of my AN friends. I hope that by next brunch I will have lost the ten indulgent pre-op pounds and have a little more symmetry to exhibit.
I'm thinking I've gone from the Brackmann III to something a little farther down the scale. Dr. McCall did a visual assessment after mentioning my decline, asking me to perform specific, challenging maneuvers but did not give me the results. Think I'll call.

Well, all of the brunch bunch is absolutely lovely, but I was right, Audrey wins the cute award! What a little angel! I think she might have had a few of those apple dumplings tucked away in those chubby little cheeks of hers! I'm glad you caught Bob redhanded trying to "accidently" take her home with him. ;)
Nancy, a shower, a shampoo and a trip to the pub? Sounds like today is shaping up pretty well! Enjoy all of it!

Sunday’s brunch was superb! What a fantastic group! I’m so looking forward to the next brunch and seeing everyone again. The time did fly by much too quickly I have to say!
Audrey was such a wonderful baby. Every time I looked up she was being held by someone new and seemed to be enjoying every minute of it. :D
Nancy, I think your being way to hard on yourself. I think you look wonderful. You just need to find that patience.

I can't do the 11th will be in Salem, the 25th is my daughters 20th B-day so any other weekend is good for me. Hopefully the Red Sox will be in the World Series again.

I'm so glad you all had such a great time on Sunday and thank you so much,Phyll, for calling me and cheering me up. It was wonderful to chat with you all for a few minutes and get to be a little part of such comaraderie. The apple dumplings look and sound scrumptious!! Katie, little Audrey is adorable.

Yes Lisa, I look like hell in those pictures. I've been noticing that ever since my surgery about four years ago my face has been very puffy.
Physically from the neck down I feel fine. From the neck up though I'm a wreck.
Today was absolutely horrible with the heavy weather we had: sick, lurid nightmarish dreams last night and crushing barometric pressure today resulting in headaches, extreme double vision and depression.

I know it's hard to be patient, and that time can drag on when you're recovering, but you'll get there :)

Hi everyone,
Just a quick note to say thanks so much and it was so good meeting you all last Sunday! I fully attribute having a GREAT race in Boston to stuffing my face sufficiently the day before :) I came in at 3 hours and 42 minutes and felt fantastic!
Off to CA on Saturday for Surgery on tuesday - whooooaaaa.....
