Hi everyone,
If I have to travel to out of the state to get a treatment done, how can I follow-up with doctor and if I have any problem after the treatment?
-
Phone and email.
After you've received treatment you can get your periodic MRIs where you live and just have the results sent to your "away" doctor for review.

hi Arizonajack,
Thanks for the info!
I was wondering that if I get any treatment done and any problem occurs later, how can I take care of...

Hi CS .....
I appreciate your concern about follow-up treatment if any problem occurs. Because ANs are relatively rare, many AN patients must travel a distance for treatment by experienced physicians. Whether out of state or not, it naturally is a concern.
If it helps any ..... if you have surgery, most surgeons require their patients to stay in the area for at least 10 days post-op, during which time most issues occur if they are going to (this is also exceedingly rare).
I went out of state for both of my surgeries. The second one, I flew across the country. I asked this very question before I went. The answer was "We do not see many problems occurring past the 10 day mark and if you should happen to, call us and we will refer you to a doctor in your area to see you." I did not have any problems.
Choosing a highly experienced treating physician greatly minimizes the chance of post-op problems.
Hope that helps. Many thoughts and prayers.

Hi Clarice,
Thank you for advice-
I always admire your graceful responses to everyone and am sure that you've encouraged and comforted many. :) It's very helpful to hear and get advice from someone who has experienced.
I am blessed that I was able to see very good and experienced surgeons and radiation oncologists and got their consultations. Narrowed down to two surgeons with two approaches.
