Hi All,
I am planning to take Cyber Knife for my 3.2x3x2.5cm tumor. For the same, I consulted multiple radiation oncologist, different doctors has different treatment options. So, not sure which one is right one for me. In Stanford, they preferred to treat in 3 sessions, 6 GY per session ( total 18Gy dosage). UCSF preferred 5 sessions with 5GY per session( 25 GY total). In El Camino hospital, they were suggesting to treat in 25 sessions, 1.8 Gy per session( total 45GY)
It would be great if people who took cyber knife treatment can share their experience and number of sessions you had for the treatment. Appreciate your help

I had single session ck 13gy
Personally I would go for 3 sessions.
The total amount of radiation is significantly reduced to your whole body
Ask about fractionation. The science and results of going beyond 3 fractions is far from proven or showing any clear advantage. Steven changs latest article in the newsletter hints that the advantages of fractionation with an's remains unanswered

Thanks Paul for your response.

Hi Maddy,
I had the procedure at Stanford with Dr. Chang - 3 sessions as you describe.
That was in 2011.
It proved very effective.
I am thankful that I am fully recovered (with the exception of poor hearing in my right ear).
I wish you the best of luck with your selection and your results.
Cheers.

One thing we as patients need to avoid is trying to play doctor. Stanford's CK protocol is 3 sessions. I am sure with the vast experience they have as well as the many years of experience they have acquired since the invention of the CyberKnife there, the decision to use 3 sessions have been arrived at scientifically and based on actual patient results. Long story short, let the professionals decide, that is what they are trained for. Each individual simply needs to decide what modality they wish to be treated with and then leave the driving to the doctor.

I had a 2.5 CM a year ago with 5 CK sessions; the size reduced to 2.0 CM last MRI several months back. Best wishes. Todd

Hi I had three sessions of Cyberknife early Feb 2019 and all is well. My AN is shrinking (recent MRI was Oct this year). The cystic aspects had disappeared. No side effects - hearing and balance remains good. My audiologist said no further hearing loss - stable. I had good balance and hearing begore and mine was on 2cm. I had 3 sessions of 6Gy so 18Gy in total.

Hi Maddy,
I also had 3 sessions with Dr. Chang and Dr. Soltys @ Stanford in 2015, fabulous doctors, staff and facilities.
Overall I am doing very well (some hearing loss in left ear post treatment).
Lots of luck for your treatment and a healthy recovery,
Stella
