Good Luck Scottie with your Gamma Knife!! I'll be thinking about you and hoping you are doing okay. Anxious to hear how your day does on Monday.
Just keep saying this mantra "This too shall pass, this too shall pass". And "Give me drugs, give me drugs!" ;D

Thanks Sue. GK is scheduled for 6am tomorrow (Tues) so hopefully I'll be wrapping things up by this time tomorrow :)

Best of luck to you. I remember the day well myself. But try not to be too afraid. The headframe is a no-brainer (no pun intended), Iwas terrified of it but the meds really worked 'cause I felt nothing, nothing. However you should know that you will need some ice packs afterwards for the back of the head where the screws were. These two spots swell a bit and they are very sore. So before you lie down have a couple reay for your head. Noone told me this and I laid back on my pillow and just about sprung from my bed, it must have looked a bit funny. you can prop your head in a way so that the ice works and your head feels like it isn't straining to hold the ice. The screws in the front never really bothered me. You may need the ice intermittently for a few days but that's that. I wish you the best and I will be thining of you tomorrow. Holly

I've been thinking about you, too, Scottie! Hope it all went well for you. I didn't have the problems that Holly had, but I did have a little bit of bleeding from one of the pin sites in the back. Just messed up the pillow case a little bit. Forgot about it until Holly mentioned that. Anyway....you'll have your own "war stories" to tell us about the day...hopefully it was fairly uneventful.

Hi All,
Thanks for the messages. I'm just recovering and doing alright. The headframe was the worst part. After that it was fairly simply. No pain with the frame coming off, but going on kind of sucked. I'll write more later, but I just wanted to thank you all.

Thanks again everyone. I'm doing better. Head is just sore now but I can't complain too much. I'm wondering what's going on inside of there with all the radiation and everything. I think they did 7 total shots of radiation using 2 diferent helmets. Like I said, the headframe going on kind of sucked, a lot of pressure in my ears, but after that 10 minutes, everything was pretty simple. Just glad it's over, hopefully for good.

What's going on in there, is that the remains of your pesky tumor is becoming decidely uncomfortable because it is mortally wounded and beginning it's slow but sure death. It may try to make you unhappy that you chose to attack it by irritating the nerves and you might feel that in some fashion....but maybe not. I don't know how much your nerves have been damaged already. Hang in there, kiddo. Your AN saga will be over soon...maybe not soon enough to suit you ;)...but soon.

I'm doing better, actually back to work today. I've had ongoing headaches for about a week now. I hope that's normal. The pin sites are still sore, but healing. All in all, I'm doing well, much easier than surgery, I'll tell you that much. Everytime my head hurts, I just think to myself that it's just some tumor dying. Makes me feel better :)

Yikes! I sure hope you got the "happy pill" before they put that thing on. Was it heavy?
