Well, only to the mailbox and back, but that's a whole half mile roundtrip. Not too shabby for one week out of the OR!
-
Why the change of user name? ???
Congratulations on the drive.

Wait a minute...FatHead??? I couldn't imagine who that was posting!
Glad you made it to and from the mailbox safely! It gets easier each time. I tried to only go straight for the first few times I drove - no backing up or lefthand turns - took me awhile to get back home with those limitations, though :D
Don't forget your naps...well, as soon as you get off those steroids so you can sleep,

Why the change of user name?
It was a little boring, and the steroids have got me bouncing off the walls.
Just woke up from an hour nap and feeling much better.
Thanks. I think spring is really getting to me, too. The winters up here are very trying.
See you soon.

LOL...welcome to the forum fathead.... ;D
I had a point where I was having a real problem driving. I remember how good it felt to get over that hump.

Congrats, Nancy!!! Your progress is terrific....just be prepared to slow down a bit after you're off the steroids!! I'm 4 months post-op and my driving is almost normal but I really have to concentrate on not looking at things off the road for more than a second or two...if I look longer, I veer toward it!!! Night driving is the biggest challenge for me - when you're up to it...toss a quick night drive in just for fun!!!!
Take care,
Kathy

Grats on the drive Nancy (Can I still call you Nancy?)
I am not having any issues with driving at night. I am still having issues during the day though :). It's actually related to the amount of traffic on the road more than anything else. Left turns onto busy 4 lane roads are still killing me. Looking left and right rapidly, waiting for all the traffic to be gone makes me so light-headed, I feel like I'm going to pass out :o
I'm guessing it's not going to get better, so I just deal with it.

Don't give up the ship just yet.
Chances are pretty good it will get better in time. At least in my experience.

i kept wondering who 'fathead' was too. is that how steroids make you feel? they make me feel weird and crazy! congrats on your driving. want to be my chaffeur when i come to the NH/ MA area this weekend? !!
-
want to be my chaffeur
sure if you only want to go to the mailbox
i don't feel like a fathead, but i'm told i am a member of a very unique club sporting intra-cranial fat
i sure do feel like i'm leaning to my good side, though
really need to work on those vestib exercises today
life is grand!

Hi Nancy.
Sounds to me that you have the most famous "I just survived brain surgery and I'm feeling great"-syndrome ;D Enjoy it....
Congratulations on making a drive as well. An important step towards feeling normal again.
Best regards, Kenneth

Indeed you are. There are lots of us "special" people on the forum. My kids got a real kick out of calling me fat head post op, so I let them.
Others might see that as bad parenting, but what can I say. It's true ::)

I thought that was how everyone in FL drives.
My kids got a real kick out
Kids should always be getting a kick out of life, IMO.

Nancy ~
Thanks for not requiring us to address you as 'fathead'. Even though we would all understand the source of the self-designated screen name, it just wouldn't feel right. 'NancyMc' is a better fit. :)
I just wanted to join the choir and add my congratulations for achieving yet another milestone in your phenomenal recovery. Driving is an essential part of modern life and being able to resume driving is a major accomplishment on the road to regaining normalcy. I suspect the drive to and from your mailbox will soon become a bit too confining and you'll be out and about on the public roads, very soon. Keep up the good work! :)

Congratulations on your first drive even if it was very short it's still a great milestone. I have to agree that Nancy suits you much better than Fathead. Besides, with all the fatheads here, we'd feel like we were talking to oursellves. ;D
Wishing you continued good healing,
Wendy

wendy,
in the short time you've been gone, nancy's name has changed many times!
-
yeah, i guess we need to add "identity crisis" as one of the possible side effects of an surgery
-
I think I like you best as NancyMc, Nancy. :)
Although I did try changing my display name to Phyl last year (lasted about 2 hours), and also called you Mary once.

Well, then, as I aim to please the Mad Hatter, so be it. ;)
