Post by: sarahinPA on October 23, 2011, 07:48:10 pm
does anyone else have noise induced tinnitus??  when all is quiet the ringing isnt bad, i almost dont notice it, but as soon as there is noise it gets really loud!! my doctor briefly mentioned an Rx for this but didnt want to discuss it until i come back for my 6 month apt. Has anyone else tried this?

YES YES YES.  I try very hard to protect my ears when I know it will be noisy.  In fact the doctor recommended special molded ear plugs which I use.  The noise really sets off the tinnitus and it usually takes a day or so to clam down.  Don't know of any RX but if you get a name I would like to talk to my doctor about it.

Hi Sarah .....

Same as you and TJ ...... horrible tinnitus when in a noisy environment like crowds or lots of mixed sounds.  It is even bad from the road noise in the car.  I have a musician's custom fit ear plug for my good ear that I carry in my purse and use in all of those situations ..... helps some but not completely.

I, too, am curious what kind of Rx your doctor is suggesting.

Yes! I have the same problem. My doctor says there is no medication to help. I was on an antidepressant for a while, didnt do anything.
