Title: Oh please tell me it's safe to color my hair...
Post by: MAlegant on August 17, 2008, 07:17:51 am
Ok, since this seems to be the BEST place for answers--when is it safe to have my hair colored?  I'm not grey, but my dark brown roots are pretty unattractive...
Thanks,
Two-toned Marci

Marci -

there have been a lot of posts about this topic on the forum.

Generally it's safe to color your hair when your incision is completely healed.

If in doubt whether you're completely healed or not, check with your doctor.

Marcy,

I'm playing it safe by waiting 3 months post-op.

In two more months it will be pretty hideous.  Oh well.  I'll start a fad.

Marci,

Are you colouring your hair yourself or going to the hairdresser?  My girlfriend is a hairdresser and this is what we did.  I got gauze cut it to cover the scar used surgical tape to adhere to my head.  Covered the gauze with plastic wrap and used more surgical tape.  It works trust me.  If you are colouring your hair yourself get your husband to help.

Marci,

That was one of the first questions I asked my doctor when I went for a check-up at two or three weeks.  He said it was fine.  I had my daughter help me so I kept it out of my eye.  That went a long way to helping me feel better.  Do you get your whole head wet when shampooing?  I would think that if you can do that, then you can color your hair.

Hii Marci,

I asked my doctor this question prior to surgery and he told me four to six weeks depending on how well I was healing.  Anne Marie's advice sounds like it would be safe through.  In my opinion, to be completely sure you should check with your doctor.

"Are you colouring your hair yourself or going to the hairdresser?  My girlfriend is a hairdresser and this is what we did.  I got gauze cut it to cover the scar used surgical tape to adhere to my head.  Covered the gauze with plastic wrap and used more surgical tape.  It works trust me.  If you are colouring your hair yourself get your husband to help."

Anne Marie - thanks for the advice -- I am going gray but only in front (why can't we start going gray in the back of our heads where we don't have to look at it?) and my roots are just starting to show.  I may try your idea in a couple of weeks.  I'd love to do it sooner but am concerned about my leaky head.  Even gray roots aren't worth taking chances for.

Hi Marci,

I read something about waiting at least 4 weeks on one of the handouts I received, but haven't really thought about it since I'm not there yet.

I just have to say how great it is to have these questions asked by others a few weeks ahead of me post-op - and to have all this advice before I ever have to ask!

Anne Marie - I'll be sure to bring the gauze, plastic wrap, and surgical tape to my next hairdresser's appointment - great idea.

H iMarci,

I had a different surgery, microvascular decompression (MVD) for hemifacial spasm, but it also involves a cranioplasty. Here is an excerpt from the Ask the Doctors column at the HFS Association website:

13 Q. How long following MVD must a patient wait before coloring their hair?

A. A patient should wait three (3) weeks after the operation before having hair colored.

Fabulous news.  I'm having it cut this weekend and I'll wait on the color for another week.  That will put me at 5 weeks or so.  I'll also double check with the doc.  I can just have the highlights done in the front and avoid the whole area as well.
Thanks all,
Not two-toned for long,

Marci-

Just make sure you ask your surgeon before you do color.  I had to wait 3 months (yes, it was horrible!) but that was because I had the post surgical infection in my incision.  Even then, I had my colorist avoid the inch of hair near the incision.  You REALLY don't want to get any chemicals on the incision until it is completely closed.

And, I will tell you that the first post surgical hair coloring is a day to celebrate!!  My face may scare small children, but at least my hair looks great again!!   ;D

Marci I am a primary teacher (2yrs) and a hairdresser (15 yrs). When in doubt ask your doctor before colouring your hair. I have highlights so you put a cap on pull the hair through and then apply the solution. I personally feel that putting colour (chemicals) directly on your scalp before everything is healed would not only be irritating to the newly healed skin but would also be absorbed into your skin more easily which cannot be good. If you need to colour your hair I would (or ask the hairdresser to) totally avoid that area. I feel strongly about the chemical thing because deep in my heart I feel that I got a tumour because I inhaled (hair colour) chemicals for so many years. Just my opinion.
Michelle  ;D
Highlights are a good way to blend in your two tones. If you haven't any grey it is a great alternative and less upkeep. Good luck.

Michelle,
Thanks so much!  I was thinking just highlights and avoid that area totally?  How does that seem?  And yes, I will check with the doctor first, no worries there.

I hope today is a good day for you--I've had a string of good ones but today sucked.  Can I say that?  ;D  My supposedly numb face feels awful--what tinnitus would feel like if it were on your skin.  Ugh. There is alcohol in my future tonight.  (For me that means one beer; I'm a pretty cheap date!)  Let me know what you think of the highlight idea.

Best,
Marci

Highlights are a great idea, you can get foils with two colours. A light and a dark so it will blend your colour that is growing in. If you decide to go with the cap (which is also nice) ask if they use the rubber cap (it is painful). In my salon I use a disposable cap and it is not painful at all. You can message me and I can give you a couple of ideas for colour. Having your hair done will make you feel so much better and although today sucked tomorrow is a new day - sleep well and remember you are strong. I tell my self everyday: My body is an amazing and wonderful machine and I am a great healer! and soon enough I will believe it. Positive thoughts help healing -go get a funny movie girlfriend.

So sorry - that stinks!  I guess it is better to be safe than sorry though - you know "it is your brain" - that is what my doctor told me before surgery!
When I just had the T3, the doctor said wait 4 weeks - which I hadn't thought about it before surgery (plus I guess there wouldn't have been time) so it REALLY needed to be done!  THEN I had all that trouble & was back in Houston when I had my new appointment - I thought I was going to cry - all over my hair!!  I finally got it done.  Everybody talked about how great I looked (b/c of the surgery) but I think it was b/c my hair was finally fixed!!  LOL!!

Marci -

glad you asked your doctor.

Although we are full of advice here on the forum, none of us (with the exception of Sam Rush) are doctors so it's always best to check with yours for a question like this.

Sorry you have another month to go, but I'm sure you look just great without the hair color.  I actually stopped coloring my hair shortly before my BAHA surgery in March and I've found it very liberating - no roots to deal with and I'm surprisingly not as gray as I thought I was  :)

Hi Marci,
Sorry to hear you have to wait another month before you can get your hair colored.  As many have said  it is always best to check with your doctor -- he's the boss and knows best  and it's why he gets paid the big bucks.  I'm sure your haircut will look great and give your a big boost anyway!

That stinks ya have to wait!  I'm glad you asked the doc anyhow.  Hey, I have my clippers ready when you are!  Never underestimate the power of really short (almost bald) hair!  I do my own hair each time, to dry it I wipe it off once with a towell, and NO STYLING AFTERWARDS!  And the best yet, it shows everyone your bada$$ scar on your head! Who could ask for more? ;)

Hey Marci,

Official licensed hairdresser here... off the scalp color (ie: Highlights by foil/cap/saran) is a good choice. There are also non-peroxide temp colors you can use (Roux is wash out and only application by application) if you want some kind of overall coverage.

In my case, my bloke wants to see my natural color (now, keep in mind this.... he is over 80% colorblind!  Like he could tell?  :o  )... so, I'm letting the *ugh!* gray hairs pop in... (trust me, at this rate, it won't be for long)....Another thought... hair grows on average (again, "individual results may vary...") 1/2 inch per month... so, you can either hang tough... or try the off-the-scalp highlights (post-surgery, I'd stay clear of cap and go for the foils).... try Roux (picked up at beauty supply and some drugstore chains in the hair color aisle, usually bottom shelves)....

*takes off cosmetologist cap*

Ok, I'm done!  Hang in there!

Marci, Have you checked out Dr. M's hair? He doesn't know much about grooming. LOL I'd take the consensus here and go for foils. :)

Pembo that is hilarious.

I'm getting it cut tomorrow (I'm in Florida visiting my mom, who hasn't seen me since before surgery--she keeps feeding me!!)  I'll wait the requisite 8 weeks and even then I'll only do highlights.  That's what I usually do anyway. I may be 49 but I don't have any gray hair yet--it's a genetic thing, my mom is 69 and she doesn't have any either. My grandfather was well into his late 70's before he turned gray.  I inherited plenty of bad genes so I'm happy with the one good gene!

does henna cover grey?
Title: Re: Oh please tell me it's safe to color my hair...
Post by: ppearl214 on August 25, 2008, 05:20:18 am
Henna will, somewhat, cover the grays.  henna is plant-based color and exceptionally safe to use with no chance of chemicals (ie: Hydrogen peroxide, etc). You cannot use harsh shampoos or hard water when washing your hair with it as it will tend to strip away the color sooner than later.  The red tones can be rather pretty.

I had my hair tinted a week before my surgery and had it done two weeks after my staples were pulled.  I used a 10 volume developer, just to deposit color, no lift needed.  It didn't cause any problems.  The problem would have been if I hadn't done it!  I was depressed enough without out adding the new grays hairs that sprouted after the surgery!

Yay, just got back from the hair salon. My roots are gone and we were very careful, just did highlights on the front and protected the back when we shampooed.  Also, another upside of facial numbness is that when they wax your eyebrows, it's 50% less painful.   ::)

I think I can just go on NOT living then.  I learned long ago not to complain about shaving.  Besides, for as long as it lasts, I've been able to get away with shaving only once a week because I work for that type of company.  That will perhaps change soon which might put me back into shaving every day.  But, you won't hear a complaint coming from me!  Someone might pour hot wax on me somewhere and rip it out... *OUCH!*  I'm constantly in awe of you women.  Far be it from me to complain because I have it pretty easy compared to you folks.  (Is that enough groveling?)  ;)

Hi Marci-

I must confess that I haven't had my brows waxed since the boogerectomy.  Since one of them doesn't move, it didn't seem worth the effort - however, the no-pain-on-that-side thing seems almost too good to pass up so I may have to get waxed.  Kinda too bad my leg isn't numb...

Has anyone ever had their eyebrows "threaded"???  I go to an Indian salon when I am in Houston where they do it.  It really cool & really cheap.  However, whenever they hit that "midpoint" where the feeling takes over, it always kind of gives me a little shock!!  LOL!!!

It is very intriguing!!  They take a long piece of thread (just like you were going to sew something) and then make a triangle around both thumbs & in their mouth - the bottom has 2 strings.  I have never known for sure if it pulls the hair out or if it cuts it SUPER close - I think it is pulled out.  I can't really ask about the whole process (you know I would) because they don't really communicate in English.  Boy, I know they are always talking about me though b/c their tongues start wagging when I go in with my "funny face"!!  LOL!!!   ;D

I'm sorry.....WHY would you want to have your eyebrows threaded???  That sounds really painful, at least on your non-AN side, Kaybo!  BTW, while I don't do much by the way of eyebrows (as long as I actually have two of them, it works for me), I DID color my hair today.  Finally got rid of the grey temples on my AN side that I didn't color before surgery, because my dr said it would be shaved.  It wasn't and it looked kind of silly. That's one more thing crossed off the list!

Actually, it is not that bad - just that second when I can feel it again.  Of course, I say that, but when I took my friend (she & her new hubby were living in Houston at the time) I thought that she was going to jump out of the chair & run screaming out of the salon - I don't think she went back!!  I did get a PM from "konnie" and she had some very good points to ponder about the downside of threading (mainly sanitary issues - YEAK!).  I haven't been able to get there the last coouple of years...I'll really think aboout it now.  I have been getting my brows waxed (which is not supposed to be good for your tender, eyelid skin) - if I had to pay that much money to get my eyebrows symmetrical, I want people to see them & think they look good!!!   ;D  VAIN, I know...{sigh}

*puts on cosmetologist cap again*

I know of those that do threading to help "raise" their low hairlines (ex: from a "2 finger" hairline to "3 finger" hairline... widens the hairline from the face)... but to thread the eyebrows, in all honesty, to me, does not make sense, esp. since it's in a sensitive area and too close to the eye (again, hygiene comes into place and don't want you all to get an eye infection).  Personally, I'd stick with tweezing/waxing for eyebrows... but if you want to raise your hairline, then you could try threading. Threading is a definate "owwy".

Just my 2 cents

HATE to post this, but y'all need to be aware PPD (Paraphenylenediamine) is a component of hair dyes sold in Canada/USA. Also used in tire formulas etc. etc.  Banned in Europe, due to deaths. Related to cancer and the brain. Food for thought: applied to hair follicles, originating in pores on the scalp, absorbed into the brain tissues.

Sorry to be such a party poop, I want the survivors to be happy and healthy. Be careful, be aware.

Secret apparently. Trying for several years to have European hair dyes imported.
And/or formula (-PPD) made public. Just a guess, but perhaps Revlon, L'oreal,...etc. those in the multi million/ billion corps. blocked it , loss of revenue?

Be that is it may, deadly combination. Beauty at what cost?

Just so you will all know - I now have political aspirations - I think I am well on my way:  I've got the soccer mom thing down PAT (also tennis, volleyball, piano, basketball, figure skating, & gymnastics - ALL of which we are doing RIGHT now!) and I am VERY involved in PTA.  I'm not the President yet, but I over all the "Chairs" for 5th Grade Activities so I have a good start!!  Will everyone support me since I have also had a ACOUSTIC NEUROMA?? I bet that would be the 1st person in a major office that had a brain tumor (besides Kennedy)!!   I figure that way, I would have a REAL plane and a reason to come around & see all you guys instead of being stuck out here in West Texas!!!   ;D    ;D    ;D

It is really hard - it is just so boring here!  Right now I am consumed with trying to get food donated for 600 people for out school's Hoedown.  The girls that were supposed to get it donated have not done thier job and now it is 3 weeks away!  YIKES!!  Since I am over all of that, I need to get it done.  Just like my daddy (& Sebastin) always said, "If you want something done right, you better do it yourself!!"

Hi all,
I forgot to ask the doctor today if he thought it would be okay to color my hair.  I was sure he would  say no but decided to e-mail him anyway.  Much to my happy surprise he said it would be okay, just to put a lot of bacitracin on the leaking part of the incision.  I will go a step further and cover it as well as possible and possibly avoid the immediate area entirely.  I don't care if it's not perfect  and I might be able to avoid coloring a square inch or more near the incision and have it matter too much.  I'm so excited!  The only other thing he told me was to wait five days because he removed some sutures that didn't dissolve today.  I didn't even know they were there until he told me. They just blended in with my hair and didn't hurt or cause any problems.

Hi Jan, Marci and Ann Marie,
I'm not a shoe nut but I am excited about the prospect of coloring my hair.  I started going gray very early -- I was only  18 when I noticed my first gray hairs, so as you can imagine, I have quite a lot if them, unfortunately most in the front of my hairline and temples, the sides and back are almost all brown with just a little gray.  I've been painting  the front of my head with a temporary root touch up I found in a hair accessory store.  It covers a lot of gray but makes my hair feel a little dirty.  I'm counting the days!

Hey, count me in!

The BT thing scared me into no changes, but I've done a year plus, with the gray and dark and it's not workin' for me.

Going back to blonde (decades, suits my skin colour).  Bleached, not coloured. Can imagine what you must be thinking, but no, it is not peroxide or Jayne Mansfield. Very soft shade and adds texture.

Looking forward to the next topic, bring it on. Keep it going, deserves it's own forum.

My 16 year old son has a halo nevus, which is a circular spot where there is no pigmentation.  Since it is on the side of his head, he has a circular spot - about 1 inch diameter - with white hair on his full head of almost black.  Actually it looks really cool 8)  Does this sound the same as yours?  It has to be a circle to be a halo nevus...  Interesting..

Yes, it's a circle. My mom also has one but it is larger than mine. Now that she has more salt-and-pepper it is not as noticeable.

One of my gym buddies has a spot on the back of her head, like your son. I always thought mine wouldn't bother me nearly so much if it was in back where I couldn't see it.

I never knew there was a special name. That's very interesting.

occasional trim ,wash it regularly and pull it back out of my face )...luckily the few gray that
come in my girls pull out  :D... my friends are sure I am missing a few genes

but I see what a visit to Ms Clairol ,a run through the mall and a new pair of shoes do for most

I have not yet had surgery for my AN. Initial appointment with NS last week. He advised at 1cm., no surgery. MRI every 6 months, if no growth, more MRIs...

My commments relate only to hair dyes etc. Personally, I am allergic to hair dyes and don't dye. (Streaks only)
My hairdresser has mentioned "milk" rinses seem to work for extreme scalp and post-operative issues. Ya never know, sometimes things that come from a natural source work the best. On the other hand..she could be full of it!!!!

Hope you all have a good day!

I color it the night before!  It's become like a ritual now - the surgery eve hair coloring.  I know mine says not to wash it the next day, but I do anyway.  My husband thinks I'm crazy... but..well, maybe he's right, but as long as it makes me feel better, that's all that matters!   :D

Cheri,
My doc said two days before surgery was okay.  I noticed Lori said the night before was okay too.  Two days before give the color more time to set though.  I just colored my hair for the first time since my surgery on July 25 and although I had lots of gray roots, the color really didn't fade too much.

I would have colored my hair on the operating table if I could have.  I did it about a week before and it STILL wasn't good enough. I got it cut as well and told the stylist to " make it a cut that would look good from a hospital bed".  She thought that was pretty funny and I have to say in retrospect that while in the hospital I didn't care at all about what I looked like.   (My husband said I looked beautiful but I think he was suffering from sleep deprivation.)

Cheri,

I'm assuming the "special shampoo" you're referring to is pHisohex. I had my hair coloring done about a week or so prior to the three day pHisohex regimen and it did just fine. I was afraid that the pHisohex would make my hair awfully dry, but it wasn't a problem. I'm now keeping the remaining pHisohex next to my kitchen sink -- I figured it would work well as an antibacterial for washing up during food prep. I do know someone who continued to use the pHisohex as a shampoo long after the AN surgery == seems a bit harsh to me for long-term use on hair.

Cheri,

I would probably do the coloring before the special shampoo.  I'm sure a few days won't make that big a difference!  Although I love Marci's idea - maybe we can ask the surgeons to just do the color for us while we're still asleep!  Really, what's another half hour?

Michelle,

Actually, I don't know why I chose the 7-12.  I guess because that's the one my doctors all recommended.  My AN surgeon suggested it, and he's gone off the Duke now, so I have another one now.  He also suggested it and so did the two doctors doing their fellowship at the office.  It also seems to have good results and doesn't seem to be such a bad surgery.  I'll have to let you know about that!

I had the tars???? at first and then after 7 years I had the weight put in -- I am DEFINITELY a proponent for a weight - whether it be external or internal.  I am sure that I will feel even more strongly about it when a go for a few months without one!!!  LOL!!!

Donnalynn -

Thank you!  I just hope the "Somewhere over the Rainbow" wasn't chosen because I'm short!  I am definitely taller than the munchkins!!   ;D

Kay, I am trying to think of something witty to say about a song chosen for you... but I'm at a loss.... ???  I'll think of something, I just hope Donnalynn will have enough time to pick up the sheet music for it!

Michelle, my only advice is that at least "eyelid weight" is easier to spell, so it would be easier to tell people about!  I have never had one, so I don't really have an opinion about them one way or another.

Donnalynn:  I use to sing that song at Notre Dame Elementary School in New Hyde Park, NY (Long Island), and so I sing it tonight.
Brought back memories as a child.   Thank you...

Always good thoughts,  Nancy

WOW!!!!
Do I feel special or what???  Just having my eye weight removed for a few months to let the "pocket" that it slipped into heal.  But it is a new doc & he is doing it at a surgery center with an IV & major drugs!!!  I'm scheduled to have it Tuesday morning.  I went for the pre-op work today and the nurse actually had firgured I had had an AN (funny sentence had x 2 & an x 2) - she used to work for an ENT here that has done some AN surgeries and eye weights!!

Thanks for the song!!

Hi K:    My oculoplastic surgeon thought there wasn't a 0.8 Gram platinum chain put in my lid ( by Dr. Byrne).  When he did the surgery ( local anesthesia)  to put in a 1.6 Gram platinum weight he saw the 0.8 Gram chain, removed it & put in his 1.6 Gram platinum weight,  all on the same day.
His placement of the weight is perfect.  You're in good hands with an oculoplastic surgeon.

I'm now looking into surgery to be able to contain my tears ( i.e. lower lid lift by ear cartilage or mouth palate ( I don't want to do this one), or stitch outer right eyelids, so I won't have to put lubricant in so often, maybe even stop using my night eye bubble !

So my friend, always good thoughts,   Nancy

ps:  Hey Capt. Deb, I have the same problem with my piano, still   play on...

The docs prescribed this special shampoo to use on my hair and shoulders three days prior to surgery.  Think it will be OK to color in between that?  I think I'll call Laurie tomorrow as a precaution.  I'd hate to dye it then find out it could cause problems.   :-\

Cheri

I was given a bottle of surgical wash that I was to use the night before surgery and then again the morning of
surgery ...in the instructions it said I was suppose to scrub whole body paying particular attention to
surgical site... then had a caution ... DO NOT USE ON FACE OR IN HAIR!!!  :o ... I kept the bottle

Oh Boy, I love playing music!  My old music partner is this guy: http://www.beansmusic.com/ (http://www.beansmusic.com/) and I recorded with him on the album "Bluenose" which is available on the website.  He is quite a pirate. I have that effect on people. I have played with a harpist before, some New Agey Jazz stuff, but most of my music is kind of islandy Jimmy Buffettesque and kind of "just tell me what key you're in......"

I was just looking at the AN calendar and your surgery is not posted there so I just found out about it.  I'm wishing you good luck and sending you a great big hug and kiss.  You are so amazing I know you'll be just fine!

Thanks Wendy~
I didn't put it on there - so little in comparison to all the AN and 12/7 stuff!!  I'm sure I will be good.  I should be able to post tomorrow - if I am not too drugged up!!  Still not sure how all that will go - the last I had this here (before the T3 which obviously I was out for!), I didn't have anything AT ALL to relax me & I did fine.  It's the drugs that knock me more than the surgery!!  LOL!!  I guess I should enjoy them while I can but Tuesday afternoons are CRAZY for us: gymnastics, basketball, & soccer!
Thanks for the good thoughts & prayers,
K

How about any issues with highlights pre op?  Happen to have my hair appt tomorrow and surgery 2-4 weeks away.  I think I should keep it so I look real good after surgery :D I am so new, so let me add I was kidding.  Alicia

Alicia,

Maybe you can get your highlights done for half price if they don't highlight the part that will be shaved off in a few weeks anyway!   ;)

Hey Kay!

I'll be thinking about you when you have your procedure done!  Enjoy the good drugs and let your family baby you for a little bit.  You deserve it!  Let us know how it goes.

Don't worry, Kay.

This is an old thread - from way back in September  ::)  I didn't take the time to scroll all the way back to the beginning, but whatever you were having done has most likely been done for months!

I hope it went well, though  ;)

Hoppy Easter! - no, that isn't a typo

Jan

My brain read that as "Happy Easter".  It was only after reading the typo part that I had to go back and re-read and find the "Hoppy" instead :)

Happy (Hoppy) Easter to you and all too :).

my brain thought like ernie's too (thought hoppy was happy).

kay - you were having a 'procedure' done. gee, hope that info was helpful to you!

i just spent 30 minutes reading this whole thread... after reading about some of the painful stuff mentioned at the beginning, AN recovery doesn't seem quite so bad!

I couldn't make it past the first four or five pages of this thread.  I was laughing so hard.  Brian's involvement is priceless.  Reminds me when Ernie was the first one to reply to the Menopause thread.  When will men learn their place!?!

Anyway, I hadn't really thought about asking if it is okay to color my hair.  I had everything out ready to go.  But then I searched hair color here and got a little concerned.  I use the non-permanent Clairol natural instincts variety.  So, I called Mili this morning, and she asked Dr. Barker, and he said NO!  Luckily, I have a second opinion option in Dr. McKenna and Dr. McCall who saw my incision and de-sutured it on Monday.

Certainly, I can get my hair wet and just put a little on the roots and grey spots for 20 minutes and then rinse it out.  I can tape up the incision with gauze as well.  Or should I pop into the health food store and see if they have henna?

Big party on Sunday all afternoon and evening and, as you know, needing all the help I can get in the looks department.

I'm not a doctor - or a hairdresser - but I wouldn't do this without asking your doctor.

IMO, you're better safe than sorry; just my thought - nothing scientific about it.

Nancy~
I couldn't even color my hair for 5 weeks after my T3 and I had VERY minimal incisions in my hairline.  I had a very young, and "with it" Dr. who was up on everything "new" and he said "No Way!"
Sorry!

I started this thread way back in September so I know exactly how you feel.  My doc also said NO and I decided to just live with it until I had the green light.  Buy new shoes, it will have the same effect on your psyche.

I don't know the names, but I believe there are root touch-up products available that are almost like mascara for the hair. That might be a good option for a visual "touchup" before a special occasion. You can just use it down the visible part line maybe and skip going anywhere near your incision, then it'll wash out. Just a thought. I have not used these so it's not a personal testimonial.  :)

It's this type of thing:

It may be just me, and perhaps I'm just overly protective - as my daughter likes to tell me  ;) - but I wouldn't put anything on your head without your doc's approval.

Shoes....ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh shoes.  Yep, that'll dress you up.  I'm getting ready to go back to work in 12 days and I bought a pair of red patent leather peep-to pumps last night.  I'm usually very conservative and red shoes would be out of the question, but maybe this is a whole new me!

Happy shopping, Nancy!!  I find it very healing!!!

Plus a new purse is always nice too!         I now have a lt blue leather purse in honor of the latest 1 yr surgery anniv. a couple weeks ago.             Of course the fact it was on sale and I did have a Xmas gift card that I used for some of it did help.     LOL!
Now you will have to find a red one, Kathy!                                        Cheryl R
