Title: Post Radiation Please Post Timeframe & Size
Post by: mindyandy on November 30, 2011, 07:21:12 am
I am asking this question only because if you read my last post im worried. If you please could take time to post when you had radiation done & the sizes. Please include sizes at each follow up MRI. How are you feeling today? Does the AN show dark then not show any darkness?

Thank you

Hi, Mindy:

The measurements for my AN are shown in my signature for most (not all) of my many followup MRIs -- enough for you to see the progression of initially swelling and then shrinking post-CK.

I had CK 41 months ago. My AN showed necrosis (dark areas on my MRIs) beginning at about 5 months and until my 40-month MRI, at which point it was virtually all-white.

Since getting treated, my hearing worsened about 20 to 25 dB on my AN side in the midrange frequencies, my balance has improved about 80%, my tinnitus has decreased in volume about 90% and my energy level has pretty much completely recovered.

Your mileage may (is sure to) vary.

Best wishes,
TW

P.S. I now realize that there are around 3 or 4 MRIs not documented in my signature. Sorry about that. It would take a bit of work to hunt down all those other measurements. But I remember that at the 11-month mark, my AN shrank 59% from its peak size at 5 months. That, according to Dr. Chang, was a highly unusual decrease in size for such a short time frame, so you shouldn't expect that.

Best,
TW

Mindy,

I had CK 13 months ago.  At my one year MRI the doctor said it looks like it did shrink about 1mm, and some dying has occurred.  My balance is still off a bit, and the tinnitus has increased a lot on the AN side.  I have lost a bit more hearing as well, but I wear hearing aids and they were able to adjust them.  Seeing other post on the subject I am hopefull that the tinnitus will come back down.  But as we all know there is no guarantee.
