I am having gamma knife surgery in about a week. I have a constant ringing in my left ear. I am just curious what to expect from the outcome of gamma knife surgery. Did anyone notice a change in either hearing or tinnitus after gamma knife treatment? Was the effect immediate or gradual?
What I would also like to know is if hearing is preserved to some degree, when would be a good time to check out for a hearing aid? Should I wait a period of time before considering?
Did anyone get a tinnitus mask after gamma knife surgery and does it help? Thanks for any input

First I will say that I did not have gamma knife. But I did have cyberknife radiation which is very similar. And yes my tinnitus has gotten worse from the radiation treatment. But I have also seen some post that the person says theirs has gone away. So each person will have different results from the procedure.
Hopefully yours will get better.

I had mild tinnitus. I had single session cyberknife. Tinnitus got much worse and has now gone completely.
It took about 13 months post ck before it went away. Hearing remains good..

I had SRS (single session, like gama knife) on July 31, 2012. I have mild tinnitus now, not sure if I had any tinnitus before or was just use to it. My hearing is excellent. No dizziness or balance issues.
I hope the tinnitus will go away over time.....but hey, no complaints here!

So tinnitus and hearing ability fluctuates back and forth for a period of time while the radiation is taking effect?
