Hi everyone,
I was just looking at the sheet the nurse gave me about what to do the day of GK. I wasn't paying too much attention when she went over some of the stuff, but I did notice that she wrote specifically BRING RELAXING CDs. What kind of CDs did you guys take with you? I was just looking at my ABBA CD, and I figured SOS and Take a Chance on Me wouldn't be very comforting! I am interested to hear what you guys took as RELAXATION CDs. I am up for some funny stuff if Phyl will allow it!!!
I have already picked out the DVD to take to the relaxation room. The second season of the original Star Trek series. I can't believe I am watching Star Trek. So out of character for me, but I am getting a kick out of it. It has really helped me keep my mind off of my AN before going to bed at night.

Hi Nancy,
My husband made me a CD for me of some of my favorite artists. It was mostly Elton John(like 75%, I'm a big fan!), a little Pink Floyd and Alice Copper with a sprinking of songs by Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, Santana and some others. I don't know for sure how long I was in the machine, but I do know that I heard almost every song twice, so probably around 2 hours. It didn't feel that long, though in fact if I hadn't have had the music as a guide to the time I would have guessed I was only in there for 1/2 hour. Must have been the "happy pills". :P

Well, I didn't have GK, but since you're asking for suggestions - how about some nice headbanger music? :D Maybe some Metallica or Iron Maiden!
Hey, sorry, you asked for funny! I think that's funny.
Seriously though, Jimmy Buffett always does the trick for me at the dentist. He might work for GK too.

I didn't have GK, but I'm with Lori - Jimmy Buffett all the way. You can pretend you're on a tropical island - or in a rowdy bar - depending on the songs you choose ;)

Hi Nancy,
I took a really weird choice, "Three Mo Tenors" (they have been on Public Broadcasting) and they are terrific. Fat lot of good it did, because I remember the first part of the first song, and that's it. GK is silent, by the way....not noisy like MRI's. At least mine was. But, then, what do I know? I was whacked out on Ativan or whatever they gave me! :o ::) ;D
Either I'm especially sensitive to what they gave me, or else I got a bigger pill than everybody else, because those few hours are gone, gone, and mostly gone.

Some good choices. I will be having some heavy sedation, requested it, so it may not matter in the long run. Just want to make sure I don't take anything that might make me want to get up and dance . . . oh, I forgot, I'm gonna be locked into the GK machine, so I guess I can't dance!!! ;D ;D ;D Nancy

I sang to Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb. The radiologist had to keep telling me to stop singing. The meds whacked me out.

Hi,
Interesting things people chose, isn't it? I wanted CALM since I was nervous. However, I did stay calm, perhaps the music? I chose quite a variety but calm......Katie Melua, Mozart, Sarah Brightman, Enya, Yo Yo Ma, Louis Armstrong and others....I said variety did I??? We love the CD so much we leave it in the car.

Dr. Steiner played classical... I really didn't mind it. After my GK I was fed by a gormet chef at the hospital.

I took CDs with me but forgot and left them at the hotel. They played classical music which I loved. I ended up using that same CD and found that it worked great because I knew at what point in the CD that the treatment would be about over.

Hi guys!
Can't believe this thread is still going!!! I ended up taking a new age CD I bought at a festival. Too lazy right now to go check the name. My "happy" meds didn't work so I was a bit uncomfortable in the GK....nerves!!! I had them crank up the volume. That really helped. When it was over, the docs said the volume was turned up so loud they could hear it behind the wall. They liked the CD and took note of it. I was only in there for 27 minutes so I don't think I even got to the end of the CD. Nice to hear everyone's comments. I am about two months post GK, and I am doing fine for the most part. I think I made the right decision to have this thing zapped. Best wishes to all of you!

Hubby listened to Elvis Presley and Ricky Nelson. He wanted to bring a song called, "I Want to be Sedated" by the Ramones but I nixed the idea!!!
