Title: 5 days post-op
Post by: Puppylove on January 17, 2011, 06:23:55 pm
Yay, my first post since the big day. According to Dr. Friedman and Dr. Schwartz, everything went without a hitch.  They were able to remove the entire tumor, and I have no facial weekness.  Not sure about the hearing, but I'm suspecting I do not have any.  I came home yesterday, did a lot of sleeping :)  I was able to wash my hair for the first time today, which felt sooooo good!

I'm extremely tired, but seem to be able to watch t.v., read, do things to occupy my time when I'm not sleeping.  I don't have dizziness too bad, so no real nausea to speak of. I'm eating fairly normal and am just taking it easy.

I want to thank everyone for all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers.  I know all the well wishes really help, even if to just keep my spirits up, which in turn helps me heal faster.  I also want to thank Nancy for meeting with me and for posting my update.

I was so scared a few months ago when I found out about this whole thing, and now that I have had the surgery and am on the recovering end of things, it is such a relief.  This is definitely a better side to be on!  :D

Thank you again and I will keep you all updated.

Debbie ~

Welcome to 'Postie-Land'!  :)  This isn't simply good news - it's fabulous news!  A successful, complication-free surgery and what appears to be a relatively placid recovery.  Having enjoyed a similar AN surgery experience, I'm delighted to learn that another AN patient is having the same kind of journey.  Rest and recover at whatever pace seems right for you - and enjoy the 'time off'.  Thanks for posting - and your kind words for our members.  We're glad to see you on 'the other side' (of surgery) too!

Jim

Way to go, Debbie!

So glad the surgery is behind you and now on to full recovery.  As Kay said, listen to your body ..... rest, rest, walk, rest, rest, walk, etc.  Walking in a safe environment really is the best way to speed up your recovery.

Let us know how you continue to do.

Still thoughts and prayers.

Clarice

Hey!  Great to hear from you and hear that you are doing so well!  Yes, wasn't that hair washing just THE best thing!  Take it easy - nap, walk and nap...

Debbie,

I'm so glad you're at home and doing well! Keep up those power naps (the best part of recovery is getting to sleep through much of it  :)), and as Kay and Clarice said...listen to your body.

Take care and update us when you can,

Nancy

Hi,
It sure is lovely to be on the post-side instead of the pre-side  :D I know exactly what you mean!

It is also lovely to wash the hair for the first time after surgery! We all posties know what a feeling it is!

Take care, rest a lot and I hope you'll have a quick recovery! It sound great so far! :D

Best wishes,

Helene in Sweden (catlover)
