Lainie,

That is exciting!  My son attended his acceptance speech in Chicago the night he won the nomination.

I can't wait to hear about your inaugural adventures in D.C.

Lainie,

That is so exciting! Hope you can get some good pics.

There's a very helpful website that has lots of info regarding the event, things you can't bring, maps, etc. Here's the link if you want to take a look:

http://inaugural.senate.gov/2009/ (http://inaugural.senate.gov/2009/)

You might be one in about 4 million, but we'll be looking for you in the crowd.  ;)

Whew.. I thought you'd say that you were the one SSD, so I was planning on looking for that.  Have fun at the inauguration!  It's a once in a lifetime event to be sure.  Plus, the weather is shaping up to be balmy for you, too! ;)

Regards,
Brian

Oh my gosh, what a wonderful opportunity to see History In The Making.  Wow.  I'll be watching it from my living room.  That's awesome.  It'll be a really exciting and interesting experience.  Have a great trip.  Tell our new President Obama, hi from me!

I hope we get your story of the Inauguration soon!  Could you see anything, did you freeze to death, were you able to get around okay in all those big crowds and did you get to wave at President Obama?    ;D

Were you one of the people in that sea of a million people?

How early did you have to show up in order to get a spot?

Hi Guys
I had a wonderful time at the Inauguration. Fortunately I was in a buliding on Pennsylvania Ave and got to see the parade. The first time President Obama [ that has a nice ring to it ] got out of his Limo was right in front of the building. We couldn't believe it and were screaming. I took a film of it so I will put it on utube this week. There was a magic in the air in DC and it was fantastic to be a minute part of history taking place. The whole of the Inauguration was broadcast on speakers throughout the area so you could hear everything. The company my husband works for own a large corporate apartment, so we were lucky enough to be able to attend a party that lasted all day. There were about 30 of us and we all had to get security clearance a month ago. The crowds were incredible and not one arrest was made. I am so happy that I went and feel very optimistic for the future.

Maybe you got to see the band from Vancouver Washington!  They went back and got to be in the parade and those kids were so thrilled.  Freezing to death, but thrilled.

Has anyone seen this picture of the inauguration posted on the gigapan website? Using the "pan" and "zoom" tools on the left of the screen, you can zoom in to see things and people in the distance in surprising detail.

It's both amazing and creepy at the same time!  :o

Lainie - I don't know how far away you were, but I wouldn't be surprised if you could find the building by using the zoom. Let me know if you see yourself!

Thank you Nancy for that great link. I was on 7th and Pennsylvania ave, so I could scan it. Glad to hear Rick is doing so well, we must plan a visit when he is up to it.
