Hi all!

I just thought I'd take this opportunity to wish all of you a Happy New Year!    I want to thank all of you for your advice, support and help over the last 8 months -- it really made my life a whole lot easier knowing I had all of you to talk to.  May 2009 be a year of better health, happiness and prosperity for us all!

Cheers!

Or:

Everything is going to be fine,
Now that we are here in 2009!

Let's have a bottle of wine,
A raise a glass for  2009!

Let's all go out and dine,
To celebrate 2009!

This stupid AN of mine,
Is down the drain in 2009!

I, too, would like to say thanks again for this forum, and for the advice and comfort that has been provided.  My  thoughts and prayers continue for those facing treatment as well as those facing ongoing challenges after treatment.

~~~~~~~~~~Happy New Years~~~~~~~~~~
A little giggle ... Lord knows I need one
WE went to town to watch fireworks and got to High School to watch only to find location had been
changed... so we go to square to find out where they were to be ...myself and a friend left my husband watching
a truck full and van full of kids (9 in all ) and went across street to tent where dance was being held ... we
see a policeman at entrance and I decide he is the guy to ask...
don't need to explain to you all  , but between low lights outside of tent and flashing light from inside tent
along with uneven ground and wind my balance was not at it's best... I am staggering toward him and about
3 feet away cup my ear and stop...only my  feet and lower half of me stopped   :o... the rest of me continued
on bumping into his chest and pulling lower half of me forward stepping on his foot   >:(... he kinda just leans forward
pushing me upright with his flashlight in one had and his other hand went to his gun ...
my now laughing friend caught my arm to steady me ... I went on and asked him about the location of fireworks
and he told me where we needed to go ... he watched as my laughing friend and I stagger back across the street to
my truck and her van ... I waved at him got in and drove off... I am sure if I had not been able to speak clearly I
would have been given a sobriety test... and failed it ... I need a medical card saying she ain't drunk , just dizzy or
something to that effect... got to parking place with about 3 minutes to spare ...still laughing our heads off and staggering
I have worried about doing just this sort of thing ... but to do it on New Years Eve and my victom to be a police
make it memorable and funny
Hi Soundy and Happy New Year!
That is a very funny story.  My balance is not as bad as yours, but I've often worried that a policeman would mistake my unsteady walk for me being drunkI'm a little steadiier, but  every now and then it still happens.
Hi Jan and Happy New Year!
Yep!  My BAHA surgery is on the calender for Monday and I'm confirming the time sometime after 1:00 p.m. today  My doi's office called on Wednesday and said 10:30 but that I should call New York Eye and Ear Infirmary today to confirm.   I was hoping to be first but mid-morning beats afternoon.
Hi All -
I called New York Eye and Ear Infirmary today and am all set.  I have to be there at 9:30 a.m. surgery should take place about 10:30 a.m.   I'm sure it willbe a piece of cake.  After brain surgery, pretty much everything else pales by comparison with a few exceptions.  I am excited but mostly relieved the wait is just about over.  Anticipation is always the hardest part of anything.  We have a busy weekend planned so it should speed by.
Wendy -
trust me, the surgery is a piece of cake - especially compared to AN surgery  ;D
You'll be fine.  I'll be thinking of you.
Oh, yea, and if you feel like sharing your BAHA hat pictures - provided you get one - please do so.
I heard Phyl will be awarding prizes at the 2009 ANA Symposium  ;)
If there is a prize, I want to be in...does the wrap job that I had for the T3 count (& all the bruising should count double!)??  Especially since I thought they said they put panties on my head and that is the 1st thing I blurted out when my Baltimore friend walked in??  I'll post those if there is a prize involved!!
looking forward to the pictures.  Wonder if your "hat" will look like mine - or like the one with the box and string (I can't remember who that hat belonged to).
I really didn't have panties on my head - I just thought that I did.  The morning after surgery, Dave had gone to get us settled where we would stay for the rest of the week b/c they said they were releasing me soon.  Of course, right after he left, the residents or whomever came in.  They wanted to change my bandage, but the when the Dr. asked the nurse about that stretchy guaze stuff to put back over it, she said they didn't have any - the only thing they had like that was some panties that they give women after having a baby.  Since I couldn't hear well (SSD & bandage) and couldn't see at all b/c I couldn't fit my glasses over the huge (both sides) bandage, I thought they said I DID have panties on my head.  When Melynn walked in, the 1st thing I blurted out was, "I have PANTIES on my head!"  I will try to post the picture...I think I kept Jan's PM with the instructions!  I will warn you though, I look BAD!!
Yikes K -What did they do to you?   you look like something the cat dragged in and forgot to drag back out again.  I'm glad the T3 surgery was worth the pain you must have had.  You definitely deserve a prize!
I am hoping to just have a little pain in my jaw and head.
K, you look like you got KO'd by Rocky!  Holy Cow.  Well, isn't it nice to have THAT behind you.  Honey, you just won the Oscar, the Emmy, the Tony and probably the Stanley Cup for sure.
Actually, Sue, I think Rocky was a little less bruised!   :D
Yeeeoooowwwwccchhhh! - that hurts just to see the picture.  Kay, you definitely deserve a prize of some sort.
Wendy - I'm so excited for you!  Monday!  Yay!  It probably feels like it took forever to get here!  I hope everything goes perfectly!  Before you know it, you'll be that much closer to sporting your own BAHA!
Steve, I remembered to write 2009 on my first check of the year - but I wrote December instead of January.   :-[
Anyway, Happy New Year to all!
Hi Lori,
Yep - tomorrow (that feels strange to say - er type, whatever) is the big day!  I m excited and a little nervous.  I colored my hair last night -- I figure it will be another 6 to 8 weeks before I can do that again and my roots seem to be getting grayer everytime I look at them,  I went out to lunch today with a friend and bouught a new scarf to cover my lovely new bandage tomorrow.  I guess I'm ready to go.  I feel like I should ask more questions but can't think of any.   I might finish off the open bottle of wine that is sitting in the fridge.  It's one of my favorites and it seems a waste to just save it for cooking with.
Hi Kerri -
Happy New Year!  Glad to hear the holidays went well for the most part and yes, I did find all the shopping and hustle and bustle exhausting too.
