Title: Is MRI safe with a Platinum Eyelid Weight?
Post by: martyc on June 11, 2013, 08:11:44 pm
Hi there,
For those of you who have a Platinum eyelid weight, can you respond as to whether or not you have had a follow up MRI post op with the weight implanted?  I read that it is not FDA approved, but is close.  I just need to hear from some of you that it wasn't a problem....or if you have been advised not to have it done.
Thanks much,
Marty

Just sent you a PM, but for others wondering the same thing, platinum is fine with an MRI. I have had several done since my implant five years ago, the latest one just this morning. The techs were a lot more concerned about the teflon padding used in my microvascular decompression than about the platinum implant or the titanium mesh in my skull.

Hi Sara,
Yes, I did!  I meant to write you afterwards.  Thank you so much for easing my anxiety.  Apparently platinum is fine with MRI's.  No results yet, but just getting the MRI felt like a victory!
Thanks again.
