Well thank-you all for the great welcome.

I'm glad to see the piratical theme contains no references to walking the plank and keel hauling ;D

I'll keep everyone updated with all the info Phyl passes on, and encourage her to contribute when she can. I'll also try and add anything her Beanie, my GF (its a long story), adds, though her paws make typing hard  :)

Hey Cheeky Bloke,

Be careful of those wacky wenches. I have already been attacked with the vicious feather dusters. If they catch you, you will probably have to walk the plank straight into a wacky wench filled vat - watch out Phyl, I don't think I'm strong enough on my own to keep those wenches at bay.

Capt Deb, now she's a smart cookie for a parott (refer good morning thread). Speaks many "native languages" that begin with AWK. Batty - well she's the wild one that loves chocolate coated cheeky things.

Good luck on the insanemobile CO

Oh there are plenty references to plank walking and keel hauling in the other thread.  Believe us wenches, we know what we're doing.  Our hormones alone could start the knees shaking in even a seasoned "pirate".  Keep us from our chocolate and you'll be chucked off the edge of the world!  Keep us fed with information on our Phyl....and you'll be quite safe.  Bring us cute boys in chocolate, and you can be our prince.  Can't be King, I think Larry's up for that spot   :D
Title: Re: Be Genteel with my cheeky bloke!
Post by: Battyp on March 22, 2006, 07:45:22 am
Heck Phyls cheeky bloke doesn't want to be King..he knows it's the Princes that have more fun!  Didn't you ever wonder how come I'm not the BattyQueen?  lol

Cheeky Bloke do you have a name or do we just call you CB for short?

Will be anxiously awaiting the updates.  Dont' make us rely on Beanies typing skills!
Title: Re: Be Genteel with my cheeky bloke!
Post by: ppearl214s Cheeky Bloke on March 22, 2006, 01:37:14 pm
Feather dusters, parrots ??? Is the former made out of the latter. ;D

Ah chocolate I can supply, though as I'd be sending it via Phyll I'm not too sure how much would make it out the far side. I've seen her having Cadburys and Jaffa Cake withdrawal, its not pretty at all  ;D

Beanies typing skills are improving, though she is too easily distracted by a passing well built Pug.

My name is Iain, though I'm happy with CB, PhyllsSO, what ever is easiest

Hi Iain, nice to met you.

Now about that chocolate.  Can you send some wonderful shortbread over?  Walkers is it called?  That stuff is way addicting..do they make them in dip them in chocolate?  Heck we'd all probably get distracted by a well built pug too as long as matthew his holding his lead   :P

Walkers... great stuff!  Jaffa Cakes, even better!

You all are blowing my diet here! I just lost almost 1 stone (14lbs for the 'Merican folks) and am now gaining it back.... my clothes don't fit and my bloke won't want me this pudgy! :(

Phyll my dear the Brit humour is still mildy moist ;D

battyprincess, Walkers do make shortbread http://www.walkersshortbread.com/index.asp?cat=Products but not a chocolate. You could add the chocolate by dipping them in a chocolate fondue.

Sounds like I need to get Phyll to explain about UK stores in the US.

Phyll, you are not podgy, just very cuddly  :)

So, I can have my IrnBru (ew!), haggis (ew!), Cadbury, Jaffa Cakes AND Walkers if I want?  I'm also running low on my Radox Bath Soak... hint, hint, hint....

and Iain, my dear... I am too pudgy... you just havent' seen me lately. :(

haggis, shortbread, pudgy, cudly, AAAWWWK, sounds like the Monday weigh in needs to be re-badged Monday tonnage.

Good to have yer on board CB. and to Phyl, just remember, blokes usually like to be able to grab the love handles, so don't lose em all and stay away from chairs!, mind you "they say" that you lose 1000 calories an hour from certain activity so maybe a couple days straight and you could have all the chocie you want!

Got to go and think of the next Good morning episode.

Hi Iain - Have heard alot of wonderful things about you! Thank you for taking such great care of our Phyl, as you well know she is awesome.

Watch out for BattyP, she's a wild one! Always dipping something or someone in chocolate, don't get me started on what she's done in a motorboat and Oh ya, her fur lined handcuffs.....
She's a wild wench, but we love her!  ;D

Hey battyP, all this talk about chocolate dipping and I never mentioned that I got a 3-tiered chocolate fountain for Christmas. I think you might like one...think I'll send you one for your birthday.

Batty - Motor boat? thats another good story line - any chairs on the motor boat?
Title: Re: Be Genteel with my cheeky bloke!
Post by: Battyp on March 22, 2006, 10:44:21 pm
Laz funny you should ask I do have a chair story but not on a motor boat..it was at a dinning room table...hence the "was"  lol  You'd think oak chairs would hold up better  lol

I saw a chocolate fountain at the mall in orlando a few days ago..it was swirling and burbling chocolate, they had a plate of strawberries and pieces of cake near by with a big sign that said "PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH".  How cruel could one store be?  geesh!!  How is one suppose to want to rent it for a day or three if they dont' let you suckle the goods.

Walkers dipped in chocolate fondue...hmmm...sounds like a plan.  They have a place here called the Melting Pot and you can get chocolate fondue desserts.  It's enough for at least two people..anyone want to join me?  I'll share as long as we're not dipping matthew! :-*

Hey Phyll,

I'm in Edinburgh.  Lovely place really its been a glorious sunny day today too.  Pretty cold but blue blue skies... I can feel the spring coming.  Well I certainly hope so since we have to loose an hours sleep this week end when the clocks go back!

Radox bath... mmm my favourity is the stress relaxation one.  Its just yummy!

We have two Melting Pots here...one in Seattle and one in Tacoma.  Capt, don't forget that we agreed to share Sawyer!!!!!!!!

Been to England/Scotland once, 2 wks in England, one in Scotland.  Passed up the Haggis, but had a great time both places.  With one exception.  We were on a bus tour, thru the Yorkshire Dales, after just leaving Thirsk.  They put on a tape of one of James Herriot's taped stories, and it was describing a cow with an infection in one of it's stomach chambers.  Just about the same time James lanced it, after the ups and downs and arounds of the Dales, and described what exploded out, the poor 16 year old girl behind me puked her guts up.  If anyone has ridden on a bus through that part of the country, you will know that there are a lot of rock hedgerows, and no where to pull over.  Wow, that was a bad plan!!!!!!!!!!

Just to clear something up, "rock hedgerows" are actual refered to as walls in the local dialect, though the technical term is dry stone walls  ;D

CB - good to know...that's what they were calling them!  Maybe it just sounds more romantic to us silly Yanks.   And really, the reason why this stands out is that I have a phobia about puke just as bad, if not worse, than my phobia about spiders.  Needless to say, I beat feet as far away from poor Danielle as I could.  Good thing I never had kids.  I'm such a wimp.

Hope Phyl is hanging in there....take care!

Gennysmom, that sounds like the usual patter the give on the "See Britain from a coach window" tours, not one of our finest creations.

As you missed out on the haggis here's some info http://www.electricscotland.com/haggis/index.html

Phyll is hanging tough as always, though I'm waiting on the latest email from Beanie for all the juicy gossip ;D
Title: Re: Be Genteel with my cheeky bloke!
Post by: Gennysmom on March 24, 2006, 03:15:39 pm
CB - yeah, you get that everywhere, but my mom (who financed the trip) has a theory that's actually worked out pretty good.  If you take a bus, boat, whatever tour the first go round, then you get to find out what you like about a place, for example England, and then that's where you go back to.  Would be different if I knew someone there and could get the inside tour, like we have of Spain.

Watched the haggis being tossed in Edinburgh.  I'll have to go look at the site though.  Innards and oatmeal and blood sounds about as appetizing as the jellied eels I saw in Brighton.  All I can say is, why?

Title: Re: Be Genteel with my cheeky bloke!
Post by: ppearl214s Cheeky Bloke on March 24, 2006, 04:01:45 pm
Gennysmom - I see the theory behind the tours, I've just seen so many that are so quick, the tours feet never seem to hit the ground, I wonder if they see anything at all.

Haggis and Jellied Eels are part of the great food con that goes on all over the world, snails (pencil erasers with gravel drowned in garlic), frogs legs (there is meat there honest), sheeps eyes (not even got caught by this one), tripe and chitterlings. Back in history when the pesants were eating anything they could get on their plate, the rich were eating swan stuffed with widgin. Why the food of the rich has vanished but the food of the peasants survived and become regional or ethnic cuisine, is one of lifes great mysteries.
Title: Re: Be Genteel with my cheeky bloke!
Post by: Mark on March 24, 2006, 05:40:57 pm
Being of Scottish descent and having been raised in Philadelphia, I would like to offer a definition of Haggis in the heirarchy of american foods

Everyone knows that Hot dogs are made from meat by products
Scrapple which tends to be unique to the Eastern US is made from the stuff they won't put in a hot dog
Haggis is made from what they won't put in Scrapple    :o

Well, that's probably not a 100% correct, but you get the feel of it anyway. As Cheeky bloke said it is fascinating that the foods of the impoverished which were generally leftovers and castoffs have become more stylish in today's cuisine

That said, I've actually had "modern" haggis on numerous occasions and think it's quite good. Try it with scrambled eggs instead of bacon or corned beef hash   ;)

Just gimme Olley's Fish and chips (http://www.olleysfishexperience.com/restaurant/holder.htm) or... um.....Cadbury or Jaffa Cakes... although, I do have to admit that CB's mum makes good game casserole/stew.

Did y'all know that my little town up here has the largest Scottish Highland Games outside of Scotland every summer?  Awesome music--Clann An Drumma is hot! Ah, me thinks Capt deb will need to be corrected in her "largest Scottish games" claim. I assume you are referring to the Grandfather Mountain Games which would be the largest in your area ( and one of the best in the country) . However, As one who mans a tent in 4-5 games a year and is involved with his clan historical society I would advise that the largest games outside of Scotland is actually the SF Games ( Pleasanton , CA) which draws 40-50K over the labor day weekend. It also alternates each year as the host of the US or World Championships for the heavy events.   ;D

next ask me if I wear my kilt in the regimental tradition. Correct answer means I'll bring it on the cruise    :o

I'm a decendant from the McIntyre clan.  Picked up some nice McIntyre plaid from Scotland when I was there!!

But I also have some Pennsylvania Dutch in my blood, so, Mark, I have had proper Scrapple as well.  And truth be told, I come from long ago sheep ranchers in Montana, so my family have eaten their share of lamb fries (not me!!!)   :-\    Why do we eat these things when there is Cadbury in the world????

Robin Williams -Live on Broadway

I bought the DVD just for that bit!

"We'll make them use a gopher stick just to get in the hole" says Robin Williams in Scottish accent

And you do this one time he says straight

"Heck (sub for actual dirty word) no , we make 'em do it 18 (naughty word) times" in the tongue of the Scots and then says " and we put trees and creeks and things in front of them just to drive 'em nuts" "and each time you swing your gopher stick we call it a stroke because you'll think you're having one when you see where the ball goes.

If you haven't seen, rent it, it's Robin Williams at his best. The whole DVD is great , but that one skit is hillarious

OMG! BP is BAAAAAAAAACK!!!!!  YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :D

DST is "daylight savings time"... UK and Europe changed their clocks last week, so this week, instead of being 5 hrs ahead of the east coast, CB has been 6 hrs ahead.  When we change our clocks this weekend, then we go back to 5 hr difference, which makes it easier for me and my CB to communicate. :)

WE'RE HURRYING CB!  GOTTA WAIT TILL SATURDAY! Cheeky! :)  :-* :-* :-*

(Did you really thing good ole' Capt Deb would let this one slide?) ;D

I keep a big red clown nose in my purse, and it gets used quite often--usually at places like the grocery store on solemn unsuspecting checker-outers!  I am the resident class clown in several places, including here, I suspect, or at least one of 'em!

Sincerely,
Your Favorite Fruitcake,
