Title: headaches over the years
Post by: brownwhite on May 28, 2013, 05:29:48 pm
Is there anyone out there who suffers with headache that had the surgery at least  20 years ago?  I suffer with the pain over my right eye also.  The headaches are bad and I just do the best I can.  Have been to many doctors.  I would like to talk to someone who had the surgery years ago.  Thank you!

I had surgery way back in 1985, I have always been dizzy.  But now I have headache on side of surgery, not bad but bothersome.  I have not been helped by doctors, seems they are not familiar or just not interested.

Hi;
   Seems an MRI may be in order here. You may have to see a Neurotologist or Otologist ( someone who specializes in AN ). Not sure if you had Translab, but the facial nerve remains if so.
   I had Translab in 1977.
   Best wishes in getting to the cause of your HAs!

Brownwhite ~

I concur with 'nftwoed' that an MRI might be helpful in assessing the cause of your headaches.

Most doctors are specialists and if they are a surgeon of any kind they will not be overly enthusiastic in helping you with your headaches because they simply have little knowledge of how to approach the problem from a medical standpoint.

However, there are pain management physicians who do specialize in, as their name implies, managing pain, including headaches.  They are called Physiatrists but some are anesthesiologists or neurologists.  There are a host of possible treatments including PT, medicine (pills) and electrode stimulation implants.  There are never any guarantees of course but even some relief would be welcome, I'm sure.

Your local medical association call help direct you to physicians practicing pain management in your area.
