Stomach Ulcer from taking Alleve
« on: May 13, 2016, 07:37:09 am »
Just a warning...I had an upper endoscopy on Tuesday that showed I have a stomach ulcer.    I've been taking Alleve since my 2010 surgery so I wanted you to be sure to limit the NSAIDS as much as possible in your recovery.
Sincerely,
Mei Mei

Yes, I am feeling better but it is soon.   I'm glad I caught it in time before it bleeds like my friends'.   Please everyone be careful with the use of NSAIDS after surgery

This was very strange to read because I too had a stomach ulcer.  I had surgery in 2011 and have certainly taken my fair share of Advil and and Aleve since then. Sometimes even on an empty stomach.  Back in February that ulcer, which I was completely unaware of, ruptured my stomach wall and I needed emergency surgery.

I am back to normal now but I will not be taking NSAIDS again.  Of course there is a study that suggests talking a baby aspirin will slow or stop growth on an AN. But I can not do that.
