Metallic taste anyone??
« on: June 05, 2014, 02:39:46 pm »
Hello,

I had gamma knife Sept '12, balance  problems, SSD and facial twitching on and off since, but definitely improving, even if it's taking a lot longer than expected.
Lately, if I have an off balance day ( not admitting to being "unbalanced" !  ;D) I have a metallic taste -- like having an old coin in my mouth.
Does this sound familiar???

 :)

I've had a metallic taste ever since surgery, and its been 16 months since my op. Think you just have to grin and bear it!
May 2011 - Diagnosed with 5cm+ AN
June 2011 - Surgery performed, 5cm+ FN discovered. Tumor de-bulked, nerve preserved. Facial weakness post-op approx. HB 4, recovered to HB 2.
November 2012 - MRI shows significant growth of tumor.
March 2013 - Tumor completely removed. Complete facial paralysis LHS.

Yup, funny taste left side, funny sensation early on too, but now I think it is only the taste buds that are still affected…but not something that bothers me a lot.   I eat anything and everything.
