My dad takes Meclizine for vertigo (unrelated to an AN) and it works wonders for him.

It might be an idea to try it.  Can't see that it would do any harm.

Have you asked your doc about it?

I don't actually "make" trouble..just kind of attract it, fine tune it, and apply it in new and exciting ways

Hi Jimmy

As noted, I know it has worked for some and not for others.... all depends on the individual.  I am also aware that "short term" (ie: 2 wks or less) course of "low dose" (ie: 2 mg) Valium may help as well as it helps to calm the vestibular nerve down.  There are also vestibular exercises that may be of help which many have been noted on the forums over the years.  Just a thought.

I was on Meclizine for vertigo, I had horrible side affects.  I would feel very groggy, incredible tired, my arms felt like lead etc etc.  I've been taking Xanax, it seems to have helped me, along with a diuretic.  My friend's mom has had success with Zoloft, so many people are using different drugs.  For some advice, stay away from processed meats like cold cuts that contain nitrates.  In fact, anything that will make you retain fluids, like sulphides as well.  This will also help if you have a ring in your ear.  I would try different drugs until you find the one that works best for you.  Best of luck and I hope you find a remedy.

God Bless.

I avoid taking it, because the ENT doc told me it's a vestibular suppressant, and so although it helps quiet that system down, it also keeps the "good" side from compensating in the long run
Rt. side 14mm x 11mm near brain stem
Severe higher frequency hearing loss
I use a hearing aid (Dot 20 by Resound)

I would give it a try. The drug has been around a long time. Its not expensive and it does help alot of my patients.
2.5cm x2.0cm cerebellapontine angle meningioma. 100% removal 2/2009. House Ear Institute. Dr Brackmann and Dr. Schwartz. SSD right ear. No balance problems except when really tired, no headaches. Transear hearing aide made no difference, tried it for 4 months.

I didn't notice side effects when I took it. It was a lifesaver one time when I on a hour long car ride and 20 mins into it I was already very very dizzy and nauseous to the point I could hardly handle it. I took the meclizine and about 10 mins later I was feeling better.
